Alumna Claire Gothard ('19), of Louisville, Ky., is the 21st McConnell Scholar to earn a Fulbright scholarship.

I will teach English language classes to students at a top Moroccan university. I first visited Morocco right after I graduated high school and it quickly became my second home," Gothard said. "I loved learning the language and exploring genuine cross-cultural curiosity. I am so honored to return and thrilled to use my excitement for vocabulary games and icebreakers for my job."

Gothard graduated from UofL in May 2019 with bachelor's degrees in economics and political science and a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies. She also earned a fellowship to the Congress-Bundestag Young Professionals Exchange.

The Fulbright Program, administered by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program.
