Spring Undergraduate Research and Community Engagement Symposium
The University Wide Undergraduate Research and Community Engagement Symposium is a chance for undergraduates to share what they have learned through their research experiences with a larger audience. It provides a forum where students can showcase research projects that build on and enrich faculty work across the disciplines.
Undergraduate Research Scholar Grant
The primary purpose of a URS is to enrich the research, scholarship and creative arts experience of the undergraduate student by involving the student in research collaboration with a faculty mentor.
CODRE Undergraduate Research Funding
The CODRE/EVPRI Undergraduate Research Funding Guidelines and Application.
Department of Physics and Astronomy
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Louisville encourages students to get involved in research as early as possible in order to enrich their educational experience. The students have opportunities to perform research work side-by-side with faculty members, senior post-doctoral researchers, and graduate students.
Women's and Gender Studies Department Scholarships and Awards

Intramural Research Incentive Grants (IRIG)
The IRIG program is funded by the University and administered by Dr. William M. Pierce, Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation. Competitions for these grants are held twice a year with deadlines in the Spring and Fall.
Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences
The department offers various ways for undergraduate students to get involved with research.
SUMMER PROGRAMS
Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)
The Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) directed by the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation and the Office of the Provost, provides University of Louisville students, who would like to know more about graduate-level education, with a 10-week research experience in a department that offers graduate degrees.
National Institutes of Health – KBRIN Program
The University of Louisville has received an award from the National Center for Research Resources, NIH for the development of a Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network in Kentucky. This award provides funds enabling 20 undergraduate students to gain summer research experience in biomedical research at either the University of Louisville or the University of Kentucky (10 students per campus). Emphasis will be in the areas of gene-based research and/or bioinformatics.
Minority and Disadvantaged Undergraduate Summer Program in Cardiovascular Research
This research program exposes minority undergraduate students to cardiovascular research at the University of Louisville. A NIH Short-Term Training Grant from the National Heart Blood and Lung Institute supports the program. Students are recruited primarily from Kentucky universities and colleges, however minority students attending schools outside of Kentucky are also encouraged to apply. At least eight minority summer research fellowships will be awarded each year.
