Roots Leadership Development Program

Program Overview 

The Roots Leadership Development Program is a robust and high-impact initiative designed to cultivate student leaders at UofL. The program focuses on supporting undergraduate students through leadership training, community engagement, personalized coaching and career readiness. Roots empowers students to build their leadership identity while connecting them to meaningful campus and community opportunities. 

Program Goals 

  • Connect students to campus leadership and community engagement opportunities 
  • Support students' academic success with scholarship assistance 
  • Prepare students for internships and post-graduate career pathways 
  • Foster identity development and self-awareness through coaching and reflection 
  • Promote collaborative leadership through campus partnerships 

Program Components 

  1. $1,000 Scholarship: Each participant receives $500 per semester to support their education. 
  2. Leadership Labs: Monthly workshops on leadership theory, identity, communication and goal-setting. 
  3. Individual Coaching: Two coaching sessions per semester with the program director. 
  4. StrengthsFinder Assessment: Used to guide personal development and coaching. 
  5. Internship & Career Readiness: Workshops and resume support to prepare students for internships and employment. 
  6. Volunteer Requirement: Two hours of monthly service (10 hours total per semester). 
  7. Roots Community Series: Monthly RSO-collaborative events that feature community leaders and promote real-world networking. Spring semester they scholars lead sessions
