Professor Jamie Abrams transitions international teaching exchange online
The University of Louisville is proud of its international teaching exchanges that expand our classroom and showcase our faculty globally.
One such teaching exchange, featuring Professor Jamie Abrams, was scheduled for March/April 2020 at the University of Turku in Finland.
While the course could easily have been canceled due to travel prohibitions, Professor Abrams was able to draw upon the institutional training provided by the University of Louisville Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning to transform the course into an engaging, online international course.
This involved moving off of UofL's Blackboard platform to an internationally accessible platform.
The course builds on a successful first-offering of hybrid course — partially online, partially in person — Family Law to Louisville Law students in Fall 2019. The course features client-centered VoiceThreads, child support and property distribution interactive learning modules, blog-writing, policy-driven discussion boards and current event lawyering exercises.
"With the infrastructure for online learning in place, faculty can meet changing global demands and bring together a 50+ person academic global community from our institutional home in Louisville," says Abrams.
