Ned Weinberger (2008) among class action lawyers honored by Law360
Ned Weinberger, a 2008 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Law, has been named a Rising Star by Law360, a recognition given to class action lawyers under age 40.
Weinberger led a team that, in June 2019, won a $35.5 million settlement that investors brought against the directors of AGNC Investment Corp.
Weinberger, a partner at Labaton Sucharow in Wilmington, Delaware, says that law school was always his goal when he was growing up in West Virginia.
He came to Louisville eager to experience life in a larger regional city. It was in Louisville that he connected with one of his mentors, fellow Louisville graduate and storied Kentucky plaintiff's lawyer, the late Larry Franklin. When he was working for Franklin, Weinberger was invited to sit in on strategy meetings and began reading about plaintiff's lawyers who act on behalf of investors.
It was Franklin who encouraged Weinberger to pursue a career as a class action lawyer.
"He gave me a lot of good advice before I moved to Delaware: 'Work as hard as you possibly can,'" Weinberger remembers. "I always distinctly remember him giving me that idea. You can't help if you're smarter or not smarter, but you can help how hard you work."
