Steps to Start Your Internship

The Latin American Studies Internships offer students the chance to deepen their understanding of Latin American societies and enhance their Spanish or Portuguese language skills by volunteering with organizations that serve the Hispanic community in Louisville or elsewhere. Interns are required to complete 80 hours of documented volunteer work and maintain a work diary. A final portfolio may include additional materials like brochures, videos, and translations. The internship requires an application form, project proposal, progress reports, a final report, and a letter of evaluation.

Internship sites have included Adelante Hispanic Achievers, Americana Center, CASA, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and more. Opportunities are also available abroad in countries like Panama and Mexico.
