Associate Vice-President for HSC Office of Educational & Professional Development 
Professor, School of Medicine

Dr. Rabalais has responsibility for the creation and oversight of faculty development activities for the four schools of the UofL Health Sciences Center; Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Public Health and Information Sciences. His goal is to engage, equip, and inspire faculty members to be their very best in teaching, learning, and leadership. He believes that we can magnify our impact as faculty members through our efforts to teach and lead the next generation of healthcare providers by using the best teaching and learning practices. He has been a faculty member in the School of Medicine since 1987 in the Department of Pediatrics. He served as the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics for 12 years (2004-2016), and Acting CEO of the University of Louisville Physicians medical school faculty practice plan for three years (2016-19) before taking on the Health Sciences Center leadership role in faculty development. He is a 1981 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine (New Orleans) and completed his residency and chief residency in Pediatrics at Tulane University. He completed clinical and research fellowships in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Denver Children’s Hospital (University of Colorado) in 1987. In 1998, he earned a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Colorado School of Business. He served as a clinical faculty physician in the infectious diseases inpatient service at Norton Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Saner directs the overall operations and implementation of faculty development programming for the Health Sciences Center. Staci works directly with and is accountable to the Associate Vice President for Professional & Educational Development and also serves as an advisor to the Associate Provost at the Delphi Center for Teaching and learning, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, and the Deans of the four Health Science Campus Schools. She uses her extensive knowledge in education to develop and implement professional development programming for the Health Sciences Center. Dr. Saner is also the Program Director for the graduate certificate program in health professions education in the College of Education and Human Development. She attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology. She received her M.Ed. in Science Education from The University of Texas, Austin. She received her doctoral degree in Health Professions Education from the College of St. Mary.

Assistant Professor, School of Medicine

Dr. Weingartner directs faculty development research and develops programming for health professions education research with the HSC Office of Educational & Professional Development. She is also an instructor for the graduate certificate program in health professions education with the College of Education and Human Development. Dr. Weingartner’s goal is to use her broad knowledge of education and research to develop tools that will help faculty at the Health Sciences Center engage in educational research. Dr. Weingartner also continues to lead research efforts with the Medical Education Research Unit in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), which she joined in 2016 with a focus in health disparities and clinical skills research. Dr. Weingartner’s undergraduate background is in secondary science education, botany, and zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She continued at Miami University to complete an MS in Botany studying molecular evolution, and she completed an MS in Biostatistics at the University of Louisville. Dr. Weingartner completed her doctorate in Biology at Indiana University studying evolutionary genetics.

Emily Carr supports the research, operations, and implementation of the faculty development programming for the Health Sciences Center Office of Professional & Educational Development. She is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in developing and implementing professional development programming. She has worked in the School of Medicine for 20 years, formerly in the Undergraduate Medical Education Office. Emily holds holds bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology from Murray State University and master's degree in Recreation & Leisure Services/Environmental Education from Murray State University.
