Jason Immekus, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, Kate Snyder, associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development, and Pat Ralston, Speed School, published, "Multidimensional Item Response Theory for Factor Structure Assessment in Educational Psychology Research," in Frontiers in Education. The article was based on their involvement with the Guild for Engineering Education, Achievement, Retention and Success (GEARS) consortium.

Tom Tretter, PhD, professor in the Department of Middle and Secondary Education, published with co-authors, "Successful Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Supporting Science Teachers with a Systematic, On-going, Intentional Collaboration between University Engineering and Science Teacher Education Faculty," in the Journal of Science Teacher Education. In addition, Dr. Tretter published with co-authors, "Strengthening Science Attitudes for Newcomer Middle School English Learners: Visually Enriched Integrated Science and Language Instruction," in the International Journal of Science Education.
Patrick Pössel, professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development, was invited by the World Affairs Council (WAC), to speak to an international delegation about the Cardinal Success Program (CSP). He spoke with the group about the CSP model and their strategies in providing mental health services to children and families in under-resourced areas. Members of the delegation were from Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Uzbekistan.
The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) announced that the Journal of Student Financial Aid (JSFA), a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal previously held by the organization, will be transferred to the UofL College of Education and Human Development's Center for Economic Education. The Center is directed by Jake Gross, PhD, associate professor, and the assistant director is Casey George, PhD, both are in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development. Dr. Gross is editor of JSFA.
Linda Mulligan (pictured with ERTC co-workers) has retired after 44 years of service to UofL and the CEHD. Her co-workers in the Education Resource and Technology Center honored her by declaring Tuesday, June 25th Linda Mulligan Day, and invited everyone to join them in celebrating her years of service.
Dr. Harri Buecker (pictured right) retired on June 30th after several years of service to the CEHD and UofL. She expanded and strengthened K-12 school partnerships and educational leadership, and helped guide many students through their degree programs to graduation.
Brandon Gossett is the new Academic Counselor Senior Recruiter for the CEHD. He is based in the Nystrand Center for Excellence in Education and his focus will be the Alternative Certification program. He will also help students interested in other CEHD degree programs connect with advisors and program directors.
Dr. Andrew McCart is a clinical assistant professor directing the Healthcare Leadership and Health Professions Education program for the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development.
Dennis Cumberland, PhD was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development.
Evan Frederick, PhD, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences.
Elizabeth Patton, PhD, was promoted to Clinical Professor, Term, in the Department of Middle and Secondary Education.
Ten students in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences completed a 12-day stay in Ghana as part of UofL's International Service Learning Program (ISLP). They joined other students from nursing, communications, and Pan-African studies in participating in a variety of service and experiential learning activities designed to promote cultural sharing and expand their global views. Andre Burrell, who recently completed the Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration degree program, was featured by Mark Hebert on WHAS11's Great Day Live. He chose the online program because of its flexibility and credits the faculty for his success. Eric Doane, a graduate of the Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development degree program, and Dennis Cumberland, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, published, "Community Policing: Using Needs Assessment to Gain Understanding before Implementing," in Performance Improvement Quarterly. The article was recognized by the journal as one of the most downloaded papers in 2018.
