PROGRAM FEE: $1,400: Includes hotels, conference fees, tuition, several meals, in-country transportation, and all group entrance fees to historical/cultural venues. Please note that airfare is not included in the program fee and that participants will be required to meet group leaders at the Budapest hotel.

CREDITS AND COURSES: All students accepted into the program will be enrolled in ELFH 624 or ELFH 596: Global Human Resource Development. In addition to the coursework abroad, students will attend two mandatory 2-hour (online) class sessions in May and June. Please note that the $1,400 program fee includes tuition.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:Leadership Competencies Across Cultures will develop students' global leadership competencies as they explore global human resource practices in Budapest, Hungary:

While in the Budapest, Hungary, students will:

  • Attend the UFHRD conference, Sustainability and Ethics: The responsibility of HRD in the Global Society at the Budapest Business School.
  • Develop and lead a Staff Ride: Students will select a leader (Maria Theresa, Lajos Batthyány, Franz Josef, Judit Polgár, Ernő Rubik, Franz Liszt, Robert Capa, Harry Houdini) and a relevant historical site where they will lead and facilitate a staff ride presentation for the class. Staff ride facilitation will include critical thinking questions pertaining to leadership and culture.
  • Visit companies in and around Budapest: Company visits will provide students with opportunities to identify, articulate, and analyze current and emerging cross-cultural trends, challenges, and ethical issues in leadership.
  • Visit: Buda Castle, The Chain Bridge, Hero's Square, Mattias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, The Great Synagogue, and many more!

APPLICATION INFORMATION & ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be enrolled in ELEOD programs including Organizational Leadership and Learning (OLL), Human Resource and Organization (HROD) and Higher Education Administration (HEA) or related program.
