I joined the faculty at University of Louisville in 2015. My family and I moved to Louisville from Minnesota where my wife and I both worked in public schools and received our graduate degrees in education-related fields. My wife and I have two children and a dog named Cooper. As a family, we frequent many of the local and state parks in the greater region via bicycle rides, hikes, or camping. We have enjoyed the college sports scene in Louisville and enjoy cheering for the Cards at football, baseball, basketball, and soccer events.

Since joining the faculty at the University of Louisville, I have worked with pre-service and in-service teachers throughout the metro and state, with a primary emphasis of our work being focused on translating the Next Generation Science Standards into action. This collaborative work takes places in my Science Methods course (with pre-service teachers) and grant-funded project (with in-service teachers). A few of my teaching and research interests involve the following: classroom discourse (specifically as it relates to science and engineering practices), technology integration, STEM-integrated curriculum design and development, and video-use as a means to engage in reflective practice. At the University of Louisville, I have taught courses for pre-professional students interested in the teaching program (Teacher Preparation 201: The Teaching Profession) as well as courses for pre-service teachers focused on teaching science in elementary schools (Teacher Preparation 324/605: Elementary Science Methods).

I am a currently a member of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST), the Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE), and am on the editorial review board for the journal Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education.
