First presentation of results of major research study on computer-assisted therapy for depression.
Drs. Jesse Wright and Tracy Eells from the University of Louisville Depression Center and their colleagues, Michael Thase, Greg Brown, and Marna Barrett, and Steve Wisniewski from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh will give the first presentation of data from a large study of computer-assisted cognitive-behavior therapy (CCBT) compared to standard cognitive-behavior therapy for depression on October 23rd at the National Network of Depression Centers Annual meeting in Chicago. This research was supported by a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health and is the largest study of the novel treatment, computer-assisted cognitive behavior therapy, in medication-free persons with major depressive disorder.
CCBT has the potential to substantially reduce the cost of effective therapy while improving access to much needed treatment. Stay tuned for breaking news on this research.
