Depression and Women
Particular attention is placed on women's mood disorders at the Depression Center. A team consisting of psychiatrists and social workers is in place to identify and treat depression as it presents through the female lifespan. Providers span a wide range of clinical expertise and include those with experience in, pregnancy, postpartum depression, menstrual disorders, peri-menopause and menopause, couples and family treatments, treatments of trauma and abuse victims, phase of life changes, professional crises, and grief and loss. Treatment modalities include:
- Individual and group treatments
- pharmacotherapy
- cognitive-behavior therapy
- interpersonal treatment
- and general treatments
Most substance abuse services are provided at the University of Louisville Chemical Dependency Program associated with the Depression Center.
