A&S Faculty earn literary artist awards
Kiki Petrosino, English professor and creative writing director, and Annette Allen, professor emerita of comparative humanities, were awarded Al Smith individual artist fellowships from the Kentucky Arts Council. The $7,500 statewide awards are to support their work in poetry. The 2018 fellowships went to 16 professional artists who exemplify excellence in their creative literary arts and who have reached a high level of achievement in their careers.

English Department Faculty Reading
Prof. Kiki Petrosino and fellow English colleague Sarah Anne Strickley will have a joint faculty reading of their recent books Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 300, Bingham Humanities Building; it’s free and public. Petrosino will read from her 2017 Witch Wife, and Strickley will read from her 2018 Fall Together. Strickley is faculty editor of Miracle Monocle, the UofL online journal of literary and visual art.
Petrosino also organizes the Axton Reading Series, which is set to resume this fall with the Sept. 27-28 visit of novelist Leah Stewart and continue with poet and editor Wendy Xu Oct. 18-19.
