The Chair called the Assembly to order at 3:10.

Hearing no call for further discussion of Section 2.1: Annual Review, the Chair moved to Section 2.2: Tenure.

2.2.F.3. Professional Activity:

Professor Griffin moved to amend the first sentence of 2.2.F.3 by substituting "scholarly" for "theoretical, empirical." The motion was seconded.

Discussion included Professors Griffin, Ferre, and Wise.

Hearing no call for further discussion, the Chair put the question and the motion to amend by substitution carried.

2.2.F.4. Service:

Professor Covell moved to amend by inserting the word " community," after "university" in the first sentence. The motion was seconded.

Discussion included Professors Covell, Lee, and Weissbach.

Hearing no call for further discussion, the Chair put the question and the motion carried.

Professor Weissbach moved to amend 2.2.F.4 by striking "member of a civic community" in sentence 2 and substituting "primarily as a private citizen."

Discussion included Professors Covell, Ziegler, Ferre, Klotz, Billingsley, and Lee.

Professor Lee moved to amend Professor Weissbach's motion by the substitution of the word "activity" for "teaching, professional activity, or work" in sentence 2 of 2.2.F.4.

Hearing no call for discussion of the motion to amend by substitution, the Chair put the question and the motion carried.

Professor Covell moved to substitute ""engage in outside one's professional qualifications" for Professor Weissbach's motion as amended. The motion was seconded.

Following further discussion, the House gave unanimous consent to withdraw Professor Covell's motion.

Professor Griffin moved to delete sentence 2 of 2.2.F.4 and substitute "Community work that does not draw upon one's academic professional expertise is not included."

Discussion included Professors John, Leuthart, Pooser, Clayton, Thomas, and Weissbach.

"Academic" was struck from Professor Griffin's motion with unanimous consent of the House.

Hearing no call for further discussion, the Chair put the question on Professor Griffin's motion. The motion carried, deleting the sentence that was addressed in Professor Weissbach's motion and rendering that motion moot.

Hearing no call for further discussion of 2.2.F.4, the Chair called for discussion of 2.2.F.5. Collegiality.

Discussion included Professors Chalmers, Ferre, Dakan, Wise, Leichty, McFadden, Klotz, and Griffin.

Professor Ferre moved to amend by substituting "Collegiality is effective collaboration with colleagues and students" for "Collegiality is the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students." The motion was seconded.

Professor Billingsley moved to substitute "Effective collaboration with colleagues and students is expected of every faculty member" for Professor Ferre's amendment.

Discussion included Professors Cumbler, Billingsley, Hall, Griffin, Covell, Riedel, Schwartz, Ferre, Vito, Theriot, and Klotz.

Professor Ferre withdrew his motion, with unanimous consent, in favor of Professor Billingsley's wording.

Hearing no call for further discussion, the Chair put the question and the motion to amend by substitution of Professor Billingsley's motion carried.

Professor Wise moved to change the title of 2.2.F.5 from "Collegiality" to "Collaboration" with editorial direction to change "collegiality" to "collaboration" wherever it occurs in the document. The motion was seconded.

Discussion included Professors Ryan, Schwartz, Billingsley, Klotz, and Covell.

Hearing no call for further discussion, the Chair put the question and stated that the "ayes" appeared to have it.

A division of the house was called. The motion carried with 19 for and 17 opposed.

2.2.F.6. Adherence to Professional Standards:

Discussion included Professors Dakan, Billingsley, and Vito.

The Assembly recessed until 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 26.
