Service Learning trip to Galapagos, Ecuador
Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to go on the Galapagos service learning trip planned for May 2015 by Student Services. Prof. Pfeffer speaks at Ohio State
Prof. Wendy Pfeffer (Classical and Modern Languages) gave a public lecture at Ohio State University. In "Putting Pieces Together: Spice Routes and Detective Work," she discussed the various sources needed and various methods necessary to understand medieval texts.
Prof. Haws speaks at Univ. of Cincinnati
In a talk sponsored by the TAFT Research Center, Prof. Jonathan Haws (Anthropology) spoke about "The Last Neanderthals" at the University of Cincinnati on March 5.

Students and faculty receive 2015 Kentucky Academy of Science Research Grants
UofL biology students Megan deVries and James Alexander received a 2015 Kentucky Academy of Sicence Research Grant to study the effects of nonionized ammonia on the behavior of a locally declining freshwater snail. Profs. Sarah Emery and Jim Alexander received a 2015 Kentucky Academy of Science Research Grant to study whether exotic plant invasion can be facilitated by below ground tri-trophic interactions.
Undergrads present at Kentucky Honors Roundtable
The University Honors Program would like to commend the following Honors students for their excellent presentations given during the Kentucky Honors Roundtable (KHR) at Kentucky State University: Frank Bencomo, Danyal Bhutto, Paige Brewer, Jamitra Fulleord, Hannah Gardner, Diana Lalata, Jared McNeil and Heather Stewart. During this conference, these students had an opportunity to share their ideas and academic pursuits with students, faculty, and staff from other state institutions.

UofL named Ky. Academy of Science Affiliate
University of Louisville is a 2015 Kentucky Academy of Science (KAS) Enhanced Affiliate and faculty, staff, and students may join KAS for free. KAS members are eligible to apply for research grants, submit manuscripts for publication in the Journal of the Kentucky Academy of Science (JKAS), receive complimentary electronic access to the JKAS and KAS Newsletter, and are entitled to discounted KAS annual meeting registration fees. Commemoration Committee organizes events to honor Vietnam veterans
Throughout the next two years, the Vietnam War Commemoration Committee will organize a series of events to commemorate Vietnam veterans and their families. On March 31, South Vietnamese veterans and refugees will share some of their stories of war and displacement, and how they later remade their lives in Louisville and Kentucky. Film Symposium sheds light on filmmaking in Kentucky
The Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships of the College of Arts and Sciences at UofL and The Louisville Film Society will host the second symposium on “Film and Filmmaking in Kentucky.” The symposium is intended to provide an understanding of how more films can be seen, current practices in film festivals, the need of video artists, and avenues to more film production in the Commonwealth. “Selfies in Art History” (Youtube, 3/2/2015) – Prof. Sarah Carter (Fine Arts), director of UofL’s Margaret M. Bridwell Art Library, on the exhibit and how the “selfie” was utilized by artists throughout history to portray their physical state as well as their psychological state.
