Funding for product development and researchcommercialization:Aug. 7 pre-application deadline
Do you have an idea for a product that could improve patient care or enhance human health? If so, we want to hear from you. Funded by the NIH, the UofL ExCITE hub offers proof-of-concept grants for all types of health-related ideas. Grants are for a maximum of $100,000 per project, and we expect to fund 5 to 10 projects per year. All UofL faculty, staff, trainees and students are eligible to apply. Prof. Jones’ show wins Best of Louisville “Best Radio Hour”
Prof. Ricky Jones’ (Pan-African Studies) radio show, “The Ricky Jones Show,” recently won The Best of Louisville’s “Best Radio Hour” in its first season. The show airs locally Sunday mornings at 10am in Louisville on 93.1 The Beat FM. It can be listened to nationwide on the iHeart Radio app. Season 2 begins in September. See the list of 2017 Best of Louisville Winners, and listen to season one of “The Ricky Jones Show.”

Criminal Justice in top 25 online programs
The Department of Criminal Justice was selected 11th out of 25 for the best online Master of Criminal Justice degree program by a program ranking website. For more information, visit thebestschools.org.

You can hear Ethics Forward hosted by Prof. Avery Kolers (Philosophy) at WFMP-LP 106.5 FM live on Tuesdays at 6pm, repeated Wednesdays at 10am, and then on Soundcloud thereafter. Correction: LGBTQ National Register of Historic Places designations
An “In the News” entry in last week’s Monday Memo – LGBT history 'reclaimed' in historic Louisville properties (The Courier-Journal, 6/30/17) – Prof. Cate Fosl (Women’s & Gender Studies, director of the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research), principal author of the "Kentucky LGBTQ Historic Context Narrative," whose work helped lead to historic monuments being placed at two sites in Louisville iconic to LGBTQ history – incorrectly stated that two historic monuments had been placed at two sites iconic to LGBTQ history in Louisville. In fact, two National Register of Historic Places designations have now been amended to note their LGBTQ historic significance.
