Important RemindersInformation Sessions on Uniform Guidance ImplementationInformation sessions regarding uniform guidance have been scheduled for faculty, staff, and administrators who manage, work with, or apply for federal grants. During these sessions sponsored programs and other administrative areas of the University will address key regulation changes and how they will impact federal proposals and awards at UofL. There are 2 sessions held in Shumaker 139. Please RSVP to ONE session:

Teaching, Service, Research & Creative ActivitiesProfs. Allen and Skinner collaborate with fellow artists for exhibitionProf. Annette Allen’s (Humanities) poem Flow is paired with Susan Moffett’s color reduction woodcut of the same title in an exhibit at the PYRO Gallery running from January 9 – February 15. Prof. Jeffrey Skinner (English) will be producing work in collaboration with poet Jessica Farquhar. They are included in the exhibit publication Double Vision: Collaborative Exhibit of PYRO Gallery Artists and Louisville Poets.
Prof. Zhao presents research at Paris workshopProf. Jianhua (Andrew) Zhao (Anthropology) was one of nine scholars invited by The Collège d’études mondiales of the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme to a workshop entitled “The Routes of Luxury” held in Paris in early January. The main themes of the workshop were the globalization of luxury and the consumption of luxury goods in China. Prof. Zhao presented a paper entitled, “Routes of Luxury: Lessons and Observations from the Chinese Fashion Industry.” Kudos & Congratulations2014 Outstanding Performance AwardsCongratulations to Luke Buckman (Assistant Director for Student Programming and Development, University Honors Program) for earning the 2014 President’s Outstanding Performance Awards. He and the other recipients will be honored for their commitment and contributions to UofL at a luncheon January 30 at the University Club.
Lori Cotter, who also earned the award, was listed as a Program Assistant Sr. in last week’s Monday Memo. Her title is Administrative Specialist. Prof. Williams receives award from APAProf. Monnica Williams has been selected for the Samuel Turner Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity in Clinical Psychology, given by the Society for Clinical Psychology, Section 12 of the American Psychological Association. She will receive the award that the August, 2015 annual meeting of the APA.

Month-long French Film Fest at University of Louisville (Insider Louisville, 1/22/2015) – The UofL Department of Classical and Modern Languages will host a French Film Festival from February 5 through March 6. Kentucky's Poet Laureate Frank X. Walker to give a reading(WKYT, 1/22/2015) and Kentucky Poet Laureate Frank X. Walker to give reading(Lexington-Herald Leader, 1/22/2015) – Frank X. Walker will read from his works and lead a master class as part of the Spring Axton Series hosted by the English Department. |
