Viviana Andreescu (Assistant Professor of Justice Administration) received her B.A. from the University of Bucharest, Romania and her M.A., M.S., and PhD degrees from the University of Louisville. In addition, she studied at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies, Austria. Dr. Andreescu is the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship (1993-1995) and was awarded the Graduate Dean's Citation for excellent achievement in 1996 and 2000.
She teaches "Criminal Behavior," "Theories of Crimes & Delinquency," and "Quantitative Analysis." Before joining the JA faculty, Dr. Andreescu has taught forty courses in social statistics, research methods, social theory, social stratification, criminology, juvenile delinquency, public policy, and program evaluation in the Department of Sociology and in the School of Urban Affairs at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Andreescu's scholarly research includes studies focusing on violent crimes, capital punishment, urban issues, ethnic relationships, and international migration. She is the co-author of two books and fifteen articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the United States and abroad.
