Two A&S staff members earn Outstanding Performance Awards
The Office of the President recently recognized facilities manager Rick Taylor and program assistant senior Alex O’Keefe (University Honors Program) as 2016 university-wide Outstanding Performance Award recipients. Forum on west Louisville’s economic future Aug. 26
An Aug. 26 economic development forum will focus on what west Louisville needs, how to finance projects and ways to turn community vision into reality. The College of Arts and Sciences is offering the public event, “The Future of Our Community: West Louisville Economic Development Forum, Part II,” from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St. Advance registration is required by Aug. 15 for the forum, which includes breakfast and lunch. Participants should visit Economic Forum and pay by check; fees are $60 for corporate representatives, $50 for individuals and $40 for students.

Research!Louisville 2016: Call for Abstracts

Faculty, post-docs, research associates, residents, clinical fellows, research staff, PharmDs, graduate and professional students are invited to submit an abstract on their life science research for a poster presentation at Research!Louisville. Abstract submissions are due by Aug. 31. Submit an abstract online. Abstractions due Aug. 31. Event is October 11-14, Kosair Charities Clinical and Translational Research Building, Health Sciences Center. For more info, call Anna Noe at 852-2553.

UofL student adds creative flair to Bridwell Art Library

Graphic design sophomore Jenna White designed work for the Bridwell Art Library as part of a course led by Power Creative designer-in-residence and Fine Arts Prof. Leslie Friesen, who approached Bridwell Director Sarah Carter with the idea of allowing Friesen’s graphic design class to use the library as a blank canvas of sorts, for environmental graphics within the space.
