Ekstrom Library
About
The University of Louisville Writing Center is located on the first floor of Ekstrom Library on the University of Louisville's Belknap Campus. We're easily accessible from multiple campus entrances.
Hours of Operation
Monday, Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Location and Directions
Step-by-Step Directions
From Floyd Street Parking Garage (Student Parking):
- Exit the Floyd Street Parking Garage and head north on foot
- Walk past the Student Activities Center (SAC)
- Veer left when you reach the rear entrance of Guy Stevenson Hall
- Continue on the path between Stevenson and Shumaker Research Building
- Turn right toward the quad and continue north
- Walk past Gottschalk Hall, then Gardiner Hall
- Turn right to go up the ramp to Ekstrom Library's main entrance
- Once inside the front entrance, the Writing Center entrance will be to your left
For Visitors:
- Enter the University of Louisville's main entrance at 2301 S. 3rd St.
- Stop at the West Information Center on your right to request a visitor parking pass
- After obtaining your pass, proceed to the visitor parking lot
- From the parking lot, head to Ekstrom Library (follow campus signage)
- Enter through the main entrance and look for the Writing Center to your left
Accessibility
Ekstrom Library is wheelchair accessible from both the main and rear entrances (near the Starbucks). The Writing Center is located on the accessible first floor. Kornhauser Library
About
The Writing Center operates a satellite location in Kornhauser Library twice weekly, specifically dedicated to supporting graduate writers in the health sciences. This specialized location provides targeted assistance with application materials, dissertations, articles, literature reviews and grants. Beyond project-specific support, we also offer guidance on graduate writing strategies, including time management techniques, interpreting advisor feedback and maintaining motivation throughout your writing process.

The University Writing Center office is located in Kornhauser Library, room 216. Members of the HSC campus are also always welcome to make appointments at our Belknap campus location, Ekstrom 132.
