Protocol Management

Any use of live vertebrate animals for teaching or research, including pilot and/or internally funded research, at the University of Louisville must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC prior to the start of related research or teaching activities. The use of animal tissues acquired from animals not originating from a Principal Investigator’s IACUC-approved animal proposal (or "protocol"), such as from other laboratories or abattoirs, requires IACUC review and approval.

All tissue and animal proposals and proposal-related documents should be submitted to the IACUC via iRIS:

Researcher Instruction Sheets

The IACUC Office recommends that Investigators and Protocol Managers review the following iRIS tutorials before submitting a proposal in iRIS. The following sheets have been designed to provide step-by-step instructions for maneuvering within the iRIS system for researchers. We are hopeful that the sheets prove helpful. However, if you have any questions, please email the .
