Tayyeb Ayyoubi, MD is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Hematopathology, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, and Clinical & Anatomic Pathology.

Dr. Tayyeb Ayyoubi received his medical degree from Kabul University in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1986, then completed a one-year Health Administration program at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 1990. He acquired his Master of Science degree in Medical Science Interdepartmental Area in 1993. He completed his Clinical and Anatomic Pathology Residency at St. Paul Medical Center in 2000. He then finished his Hematopathology Fellowship from the University of Minnesota in 2001. He completed another fellowship and post-doctoral training in Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2004.

He served as staff pathologist at Sanford Heath in Bismarck, North Dakota from 2005-2009. He then became the Director of Blood Banking/Transfusion Services and Tissue Banking as well as Director of Fellowship Training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine from 2009-2019 and Director of Hematology and Coagulation from 2011-2019 at the University of Louisville. He comes to us from his most recent post as Director of Blood Banks at King Saud University Medical City in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Ayyoubi takes the role of Associate Professor, Chief of Transfusion Medicine Services/Blood Banking and Director of Transfusion Medicine/Blood Bank Fellowship.
