Dr. Banerjee retreaded after 19 years of neurosurgical practice in Louisville in 1997. In the past, he taught one semester every year until 2000 as a Professor of Neuroanatomy at Kigezi Int. School of Medicine in Cambridge, England. Dr. Banerjee worked as a neurosurgeon for short stays in Brazil, Peru, Honduras, India, Nepal, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia several times since 1988. He also worked in Ethiopia and Nicaragua as a visiting neurosurgeon one to two months every year until recently. Dr. Banerjee now uses the remaining time reading and writing.

Dr. Banerjee has worked in Mongolia and Siberia and is currently a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he coordinated the Nicaraguan program with Barrow Neurological Institute. He now works at Managua once per year. At present Dr. Banerjee also teaches elementary, middle, and high school students for ten sessions in different schools, community centers, at JCYC, and at Bowling Green and Louisville DJJ facilities as well as serves the SPAVA program as board member.
