Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Sruthi Yakkanti’s journey into medicine began with her foundational roles as a medical scribe and medical assistant in an interventional pain clinic. These early experiences ignited her interest in PM&R, a specialty that seamlessly combined with her other passion: music.

Dr. Yakkanti earned her medical degree from Rowan Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2023. Her unique background was further highlighted during her years in medical school when she presented her research on "Further Understanding the Efficacy of Music-Based Cognitive Remediation Therapy for Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury." This work highlighted her innovative approach to integrating music therapy into medical practice.

As a professional singer, Dr. Yakkanti has captivated audiences nationally and internationally. Her remarkable talent was showcased when she was a top 5 finalist in the second season of Telugu Indian Idol. Her musical expertise continues to enhance her practice in PM&R, where she combines her dual passions to enrich patient care.

Before joining the University of Louisville, Dr. Yakkanti completed her transitional year at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. As she advances in her residency, Dr. Yakkanti remains dedicated to implementing diverse modalities in patient management and treatment, striving to make a meaningful impact in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
