Dr. Michael Del Busto graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2018. Before attending the University of Cincinnati (UC), Dr. Del Busto earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Wabash College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. At Wabash. Dr. Del Busto played varsity football for four years and ranked in the top 25 highest grade point averages of student athletes in 2011 and 2013. At UC he helped create the Bearcat Barbell fundraising event "Bench Press to Beat Breast Cancer" to support "I have Wings" Breast Cancer Foundation. He served as a member of the Latino Medical Student Association and the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, founded UC's Circle K International Chapter, and volunteered as a "Med Mentor" tutoring inner city youth in vocabulary and reading. Since becoming a University of Louisville (UofL) Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation resident, Dr. Del Busto has joined the UofL House Staff Council and AAPMR's Physiatrist in Training Council. He has leadership roles within AAPM&R, PHiT, and the nominating committee. Dr. Del Busto will serve as co-Resident Chief during the 2021-2022 academic year. He is interested in sports medicine and volunteers for a variety of sideline coverage for local football, track, cross country, and Special Olympic programs. Dr. Del Busto is currently writing a book chapter on adaptive athletes with Dr. Adamkin and other residents. He is a member of the American Academy of Physiatrists, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
