Mason G. English, MD, MBA was raised in the small town of Paducah, Kentucky. In 2015, he graduated from Union University with a Bachelor of Science in cell and molecular biology. He attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine and graduated in 2020 with a Distinction in Business and Leadership. While pursuing his medical degree, Dr. English chose to further develop his interest in business and received an MBA with a concentration in Leadership from Union University in 2019, where he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. During his time as a medical student, Dr. English discovered an enjoyment for teaching others and served as a physical exams teacher for first-year medical students at UofL as well as a Suture Workshop Instructor for Research!Louisville. Dr. English was recognized by the Kentucky Medical Association for completion of the Medical Student Outreach and Leadership Program and his participation in numerous service projects.
While an undergraduate student at Union University, Dr. English conducted research evaluating the effects of cortisol levels on Xiphophorus hellerii and performed a cost-benefit analysis for Da Vinci Robotic Surgery. During his time at the University of Louisville, Dr. English participated in research projects examining the changes in swallow breathing patterns following both hypoxic environments and cerebellar injuries. Additionally, he engaged in research investigating the effects of acute traumatic spinal cord injury in a large-scale porcine model. Dr. English also authored an article examining the current role of machine learning in the diagnosis of a variety of neurological pathologies. In addition to his medical interests, Dr. English was involved in research in different aspects of technology, primarily focusing on theories of content moderation, and in 2018 he was invited to present and discuss his research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. English enjoys spending time with his wife and son, catching up on technology news, and following Formula 1.
