Dr. Mara Harris graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in 2018 after earning her bachelor’s degree in biology from Clearwater Christian College in 2013. While in school at VCOM, Dr. Harris was a member and treasurer of the school’s American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians Chapter. She also participated in a medical mission trip to El Salvador in 2015 and was honored as the Mary Black Hospital VCOM Student Doctor of the Year in 2017. Before becoming a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Resident at the University of Louisville, Dr. Harris completed her transitional internship year at the Sandusky Ohio Firelands Medical Center.

Dr. Harris is interested in amputee care and inpatient rehabilitation, specifically SCI and pediatric rehabilitation. For the academic year of 2020-2021, Dr. Harris will serve as the resident representative on the quality management committee. While at UofL she has gained experience providing football sideline coverage for local high school teams and worked MedFest which provides free physicals for Kentucky Special Olympics athletes. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Harris' research interests currently include working on a research project that focuses on Acute management of SCI patients and how it affects outcomes for those patient, as well as qualitative research methods. She is currently co-chief resident for the 2021-2022 academic year.
