Elizabeth Bridwell, MD is a Louisville native who graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2024 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of Kentucky in 2018. While at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Bridwell took part in research on vascular dementia following traumatic brain injuries at the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Bridwell spent two years teaching special education in Kansas City, MO with Teach for America. She enjoys using her teaching background to mentor and teach medical students who are interested in neurosurgery.
During her time at the University of Louisville, she was an inaugural member of the Bluegrass BioDesign, a group of medical students who partner with faculty and engineering students to identify innovative solutions to surgical inefficiencies, after which she went on to serve as a member of the Bluegrass BioDesign board and a mentor to the neurosurgery group. She was also involved in research projects with the University of Louisville Department of Neurosurgery specifically investigating noninvasive management options for trigeminal neuralgia, as well as deep brain stimulation and gunshot wound management.
Since joining the University of Louisville Neurosurgery Residency Program, Dr. Bridwell continues to explore her interests in all neurosurgery fields and provides mentorship to medical students. She is an active member of Women In Neurosurgery, AANS, CNS, and GLMS. Her hobbies include playing pickleball, running, knitting/crocheting, loving on her two cats, and trying every Ramen place in town.
