Students will have the opportunity of participating in the care of patients with life-limiting illnesses using an interdisciplinary team approach. Additionally, an introduction into the principles of pain management will be provided.

Goals and Objectives

By the end of this rotation, students will demonstrate the ability to apply the general principles of interdisciplinary palliative care in the care of patients.  Specifically, they will:

  1. Communicate with patients, team members, and families in a palliative setting.
  2. Have an introduction into the principles of pain management in a clinical setting.
  3. See patients, present the patients to a supervisor, interact with an interdisciplinary team.

iCOPE

Participation in an iCOPE session (and completion of all associated requirements) must be achieved before a grade is issued.

Students who do not satisfactorily complete the required learning activities, patient care activities, and evaluations are required to repeat the rotation..
