Health Professions Education Programs

The Health Professions Education Program provides health professions faculty, fellows, residents and graduate students in Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and other Allied Health disciplines with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in an academic career.

Master of Science Program

The online Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSHPE) is designed for healthcare professionals who plan to teach in their respective discipline—medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, or other health fields—and prepare to become effective educators in a clinical or classroom setting. UofL’s Health Professions Education master’s program helps develop your educator identity and advance your expertise in curriculum design, learning assessment, educational research, and inclusive teaching practices. Delivered through flexible online courses, our MSHPE program prepares you to successfully instruct a diverse group of learners and make your impact on the next generation of healthcare providers.

Graduate Certificate Program

The Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education (HPE) program is offered through the University of Louisville's College of Medicine. The program is ideal for of the HPE program is to provide health professions faculty, residents, and graduate students in Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and other allied health professions with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an academic career. HPE also aims to advance practitioner and patient education, health sciences education research, and enhance inter-and intra- disciplinary studies. The program consists of four classes that are 8 weeks (about 2 months) long and are 100% asynchronous online.
