This adult developmental medicine course (fourth annual) will present a multidisciplinary approach needed for the care and treatment of adult patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in order to educate and inform health care providers, patients and their caregivers about best current practices and future treatment directions for patients with IDD.

As a result of participating in this activity, the participants should be able to:

1) Utilize the best available practices to improve physical activity levels and promote health among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
2) Properly evaluate and manage endocrine and metabolic disorders among adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
3) Incorporate appropriate best practices with respect to health promotion and obesity prevention in adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
4) Identify the oral health issues concerning adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
