Viral Hepatitis Update and Training Seminar Series: Enduring Material

This CME Enduring Material activity will provide updates on the diagnosis and treatment of the two dominant forms of viral hepatitis (Hepatitis B and C) and explore the resurgence of Hepatitis A and the future impact of Delta Hepatitis and Hepatitis E. Faculty experts will deliver state-of-the-art material in a setting that stresses interaction with the participants. The Viral Hepatitis Training and Treatment Update will increase the number of clinicians educated on the causes of chronic viral hepatitis, as well as best practices to preventing, diagnosing, treating, and/or referring patients to liver specialists.

 

Welcome to On-line version of the Viral Hepatitis Update and Training seminar.  The content represents the most up-to-date information on the diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis A, B, C, Delta Hepatitis and Hepatitis E.  Your faculty are leading hepatologists from across the country.

The majority of the course materials reside on our digital app and you will be provided log-on information and credentials.  When you have completed the course work, you will be directed to a site to take the required CME quiz, evaluate the seminar, and request your Continuing Education credits.

Internists, Family Physicians, Gastroenterologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and RN’s.

Instructions 
This online CME activity has been developed by the University of Louisville School of Medicine in joint providership with SC Liver Research Consortia. During the course you will watch and listen to a series of eight video presentations. You will have to register and create a user profile before you are able to download the digital app and view the video material. Once the material has been reviewed, you will take a brief post-activity test followed by a course evaluation, after which you will be able to generate your CME/CE certificate.

Course Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Discuss the prevalence and incidence of acute and chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C both in the general US population and in at-risk populations.
2. Review the history, epidemiology, demographics, natural history, histology, immunology and pathophysiology of the viral infection.
3. Appreciate the factors that have led to a resurgence of Hepatitis A.
4. Appraise state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment guidelines for HAV, HBV, HCV and HDV.
5. Formulate and/or implement strategies for preventing, diagnosing, treating, and/or referring patients with viral hepatitis.
6. Evaluate the multidisciplinary team approach to care of patients with hepatitis B and C.
7. Evaluate the current disease state of Hepatitis and why they United States needs to prepare now.
8. Establish a local network of practitioners for information sharing, referrals, etc.
9. Improve the health of patients infected with the HBV and/or HCV virus.
