Research Description:

Dr. Fu’s current research interests include chemical microsensor array or electronic nose, microreactors, concentration and analytical methods for detection of trace volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath and biofluids, environmental air, aerosols of electronic cigarettes.  The analysis of metabolic VOCs in exhaled breath has led to identification of disease biomarkers.  He is developing  a noninvasive breath analysis tool for detection of early cancers, COVID-19 and other respiratory infectious diseases.
