The Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville is happy to announce the acceptance of nine High School Summer Research Interns for 2023.  This year the selected students are from the Louisville Metro area.  A list of students and their schools is given below. 

This competitive program, now in its 16^th year, received five applications for each available position.  

The High School Summer Research Internship Program (HSSRIP) runs for 8-weeks, from Monday, June 12 through Friday, August 4. 

Students selected obtain hands-on wet-lab research experience through working with Brown Cancer Center (BCC) faculty in their research laboratories.

A seminar series organized for this group is held each Tuesday where speakers discuss their current cutting-edge research, an important topic relevant to working in a research laboratory, or the hottest topics in cancer research today.  Interns also may attend the regular departmental and BCC seminars. 

At the end of this 8-week period, interns prepare posters for presentation at a special poster session organized for all UofL summer interns the last Friday afternoon of the program.  At this session posters – presented by the college summer interns from other science programs on the HSC as well as by the BCC High School Summer Research Interns – showcase the work each intern completed over the summer.  In addition, the High School intern work will be showcased at two other events:  the Brown Cancer Center Research Retreat held September 15, and Research!Louisville, the annual celebration of all UofL research held October 2-6, 2023.
