Shepherd ('14) elected SBA President at NYU Law School
“I am just generally excited for the opportunity to lead such a robust and involved organization,” said Shepherd, who previously served as social chair of the SBA. “The organization has about a quarter-million dollar budget and oversees all of the student organizations on campus.”
In addition, Shepherd will serve as the main liaison between the student body and NYU administrators.
Shepherd has a number of goals. “We want to enshrine school-wide community service into the ethos here, more so than already done,” he said. “We will also be working on student affordability issues, with the ultimate goal of freezing tuition for the next few years.”
Shepherd found that his experiences at UofL and as a McConnell Scholar have helped him succeed in his positions.
“I am extremely thankful for the knowledge and wisdom that came from my years at the McConnell Center,” said Shepherd. “This is only the beginning.”
While a McConnell Scholar, Shepherd was involved on the moot court team, student government association, summer student orientation staff. He earned the Henry Clay Internship in Public Policy and interned for U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in Washington, D.C. He was also named a 2013 Truman Scholar.
