Affirmative Action: Goals, Challenges, & Controversies
Affirmative action policies have been a topic of ongoing debate and discussion in both academic and societal contexts. This panel seeks to address the following key objectives: to explore the historical context and underlying motivations for implementing affirmative action policies in higher education and beyond; to delve into the challenges and complexities associated with affirmative action, including legal and ethical considerations; and to assess the impact of affirmative action on our campus community, considering both the benefits and potential challenges it poses to our institution's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
