The Liberal Studies Leadership Series presents a a talk by Karina Barillas, co-founder and Executive Director of La Casita Center. La Casita Center is a nonprofit rooted in Latinx and feminist principles, dedicated to providing support, empowerment, and advocacy. This organization, born from a profound vision and commitment, has evolved into a place of safety, cultural celebration, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging for families grappling with extreme poverty, food insecurity, and limited resources.
The Leadership Series hosts talks by key community leaders, providing valuable insights and real-world perspectives to inform and engage students in critical thinking and societal issues. This series is part of the Liberal Studies Visiting Scholars Project.
