Cardinals Rising Program

Cardinals Rising, a transformative college readiness initiative, will start enrolling students in grades 8-12 beginning Fall 2024. This exceptional program aims to close the educational gap by nurturing a college-going culture among underserved, low-income, and first-generation students. It involves a strong partnership with various University of Louisville academic departments and local middle and high schools, making Cardinals Rising more than just a program—it's a step towards educational equity.

The program targets serving 200 students in grades 8-12 and offers scholarships to those who meet its requirements, providing a direct route to higher education. Additionally, it supports the families of participating students by providing parents and guardians with the resources and knowledge needed to support their child’s educational pursuits. Inclusive Excellence Scholars Program

When alumni serve as mentors, they deliver substantial advantages to both undergraduate and graduate students, especially those from first-generation and underrepresented groups. The Inclusive Excellence Scholars program, a collaborative effort between the Office of Institutional Equity and the Office of Alumni Relations starting in Fall 2024, assembles a diverse cadre of alumni mentors. These mentors will form relationships with students to impart crucial global competencies needed for professional success. The program aims to foster the ability to consistently practice inclusive excellence while mentoring students at various academic levels. Alumni mentorship is a potent tool for knowledge transfer, personal growth, and professional development. It assists students in closing the gap between their potential and available opportunities, thereby enhancing the diversity and inclusivity of both educational and professional environments.
