Dental School students are considered to be making Satisfactory Academic Progress and are eligible to receive federal financial aid as long as they are allowed to continue to enroll in Dental School. All dental students are monitored by the Dental Student Affairs Office on both qualitative and quantitative measures. Students are reviewed if they fail any courses and if they exceed the 6-year rule for completing their degree. Students who fail to meet the Dental School standards will appear before the Student Promotions Committee who will determine their academic future.
All students who must appear before the Student Promotions Committee will be considered not to be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and will be ineligible for federal financial aid. If the Student Promotions Committee allows the student to return to school, he will be place on an academic plan outlining what he must do to remain in school. He will be considered to be on financial aid probation and will be eligible to receive federal financial aid as long as he meets the conditions of the plan.
The Financial Aid Office will be notified of all students who will be appearing before the committee and the final decision of each student’s hearing.
