Danielle Franco
Chemistry
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Franco made chemistry fun. She explained things in a way that made it easy to understand and really wants her students to succeed. Great professor.
I believe Professor Franco was a very strong educator and was very knowledgeable of her topics. I believe the speed she taught at was perfect for students in a learning environment. She answered questions throughout lectures and really worked with the students to help them answer their questions. I believe her group strategy for working on problems was extremely helpful and beneficial to her and students. It helped us understand from one student to another and helped us get to know the problems that were recommended in future exams and quizzes.
She is a very sweet lady and knows chemistry like the back of her hand. She was also very understanding of a lot of things that had happened throughout the semester which was very sweet of her.
Dr. Franco is a great chemistry professor. Her lectures and activity on Blackboard makes the class very easy and the material much easier to comprehend.
SHE DESERVES THIS BECAUSE DR. FRANCO IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR.
A
Sapling and Blackboard are easy to use and navigate. The only issue I had was info. on Blackboard was not updated as much as it could have been. On the 8th, I thought the final was in 103 Ernst Hall, based on the previous info., but it was actually in the Strickler Building. Other than that, no major issues.
She did a very good job of making sure we had enough time to learn the material and was very responsive to emails.
She's very good with contacting her students and informing of any changes. It's easy to communicate any concerns with her.
Thanks!!!!
This professor made a subject that I felt hopeless in feel very natural and obtainable. I had taken her class once before but had to withdraw from it because of family. Her way of explaining content and answering questions is better than any other chemistry professor I’ve encountered. Instead of saying "that's just how it works,” she’ll take the time to give you a real answer and make sure you understand what she’s saying before she moves on. Wonderful course, wonderful professor.
Dr. Franco has been very attentive and helpful in guiding me in the right direction, so I am able to get the proper resources to complete this class. When I first started, I was not doing well, and Dr. Franco took notice and contacted me via email. With all her help, I am not only passing Chem 101, but I will make a grade much better than I expected.
She was so much fun to work with!!
Great professor! Responds back to questions very fast.
She provided so much help for my chemistry class. She designed the different type of coursework to help my classmates and me to understand the material that we were going over within that week. I believe that Dr. Franco is an amazing professor inspired to teach young adult students.
She is a good teacher.
I was worried about taking a class online, however, Dr. Franco made the content enjoyable and engaging. We had multiple email conversations, and some of them were casual, where I would tell her how excited I am that my grade went up, etc. She is an excellent teacher, and I truly hope the Chemistry Department understands what a gem of an instructor they have at their institution.
She encourages participation and is very helpful. Students have to put in work if they want a good grade, and she will make you earn the grade.
Great class all around. I like the group work we do.
She is just a good instructor who knows her stuff. There is nothing more that you can ask from your professor.
Dr. Franco helps present complex material in ways that are useful for the learner. She offers students chances to succeed in class, while her quizzes and tests are challenging and very applicable. Moreover, Dr. Franco is always accessible to us, and she truly cares about us learning the material. Thank you, Dr. Franco! -
Audrey Kline
Economics
College of BusinessAlways available to help students.
Does very well at explaining all of the material, ties real-world examples in her lessons, has a very open availability to talk after class, and is by far the most interesting professor I’ve had thus far. I would encourage anyone new to Econ to take her as a professor simply because of how she teaches. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Enjoyed Dr. Kline's Econ-490 class and the constant feedback she provided in hopes of allowing students to find their optimal results.
Great teacher
She is cool
Dr. Kline was the epitome of an excellent educator during my time with her this semester. She constantly went above and beyond, provided opportunities for her students to succeed outside of the classroom, as well as within the classroom. She presented the material in a way that allowed it to be grasped easily and gave each of her students a functional understanding of the course material. She was willing to work with any and every student, including students not even taking her classes this semester. Dr. Kline proved time and time again that she deserves recognition for the time and effort she puts into her students.
Dr. Kline is very dedicated to her students. Her classes are incredibly organized, and her lessons are very clear and easy to follow. Economics is not easy for everyone, but Dr. Kline makes it enjoyable and understandable. For example, much of economics is very math oriented, but Dr. Kline is able to teach on the subject from various angles. She often draws graphs on the board which provide excellent visuals for her lectures. Furthermore, when covering new material, she often leads her students to come up with the right answers on their own rather than telling them outright. Her style of teaching is very accommodating to students of all learning styles.
Dr. Audrey Kline is a very good instructor. She is so patient and responds to my messages very quickly. I greatly improved myself under her help.
Seriously the best professor I've had at the university so far. She genuinely cares about every single one of her students, and her lectures and the way she teaches is absolutely phenomenal. Couldn't have asked for a better economics teacher to introduce me into the College of Business!
Professor Kline does a great job at relaying needed information to her students in a way that is easy to understand. She makes sure everyone understands subjects before moving on to the next one. Professor Kline really made my first semester at Louisville great.
She was a great microeconomics teacher and always wanted to help her students.
I liked the structure of the course and how she taught the material. There is a lot to learn in just one semester, but if the class did have any questions that needed to be answered, Professor Kline would gladly stop to help. The class was challenging, but Professor Kline did her best to describe the material the best she could in class.
I think she taught us everything with easy ways. Nobody is perfect and can't stay that way, but I think she is the best teacher... -
Cynthia Metz
Physiology
School of MedicineThe best professor I have ever had. She is amazing and explains everything so well! If every professor was like Dr. Metz, everyone would learn so much more! Thank you, Dr. Metz, for being the great professor that you are!

She's all-around awesome.
Dr. Metz is one of the greatest instructors that I have ever had. She makes learning physiology very interactive, and I look forward to class every time she is teaching. She has an infectious personality and brings up the mood of every student in the class. She is kind-hearted and obviously wants each one of her students to succeed and will go out of her way to make sure of that. It is easy to see the amount of effort that she has put into this course from videos to reviews, and because of her, I feel like I have a very strong foundation that I will be able to build on these next few years.
Dr. Metz was an incredible instructor for Dental physiology. Her lectures and notes were always interactive and engaging. She truly structured the class in a way that engaged the students. She personally made videos, PowerPoint animations, and figures which helped tremendously. She was always helpful when answering questions in class and after the exam, and she was never condescending. She is a wonderful professor and should definitely be acknowledged for her hard work and dedication in education.
Dr. Metz is a great professor and really cares about her students' education. She goes above and beyond to ensure our success, and for that we can't thank her enough.
Goes above and beyond to ensure student comprehension and retention. Works to make learning accessible for everyone.
She is the best teacher I ever had!! She can teach the toughest content in the easiest way that will stick with the student. Plus, she is a super nice person!! She is Awesome!!
Dr. Metz has been a complete blessing to our class. She is such a great teacher that had very clear expectations since the beginning of the class, taught from notes that were very well organized, and was very respectful and helpful to all of the students. We know that she definitely cares about the students and has shown that through so many things that she does. She deserves this award hands down.
She has made physiology so much easier and always goes out of her way to help others.
Dr Metz's above and beyond dedication, effort, interest, care, and flexibility made her course a very enjoyable experience. Her love and passion for her work is obvious.
Dr. Metz is enthusiastic and driven to teach. She takes the time to understand different ways students learn. She uses this to apply it in her teaching method. Best professor ever.
Dr. Metz is the best professor I've ever had as a student. Her preparation and delivery of the material have made D-1 Physiology much smoother and easier to understand the information presented in class. Not only is she a great lecturer, but she is always willing to answer questions outside of class and is extremely approachable.
She's the best
Dr. Metz is a very passionate teacher not only about what she teaches, but passionate about each student's quest to learn the information she lectures upon. She is always available to help and treats all her students with a great amount of respect. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award.
Dr. Metz is the best professor I have ever had. She is a great lecturer and provides many means for student success outside of what any other professor provides. I know I would not have been as successful in this course if Dr. Metz weren't my professor. She is always available for questions and truly wants her students to succeed. -

Truly enjoyed his classes! Very knowledgeable professor.
Dr. Yampolskiy is a great teacher. He explains the material well with great PowerPoint presentations. He also works with you if you do not understand the material.
Dr. Yampolskiy creates a fun and engaging learning atmosphere. He provides multiple avenues through which students can receive help and provides opportunities for students to further their learning according to their individual interests. I learned how to code in two languages I was previously unfamiliar with through the course of a semester and was able to take advantage of an opportunity he presented in this class to learn about one other programming language of my choice and give a presentation to the class on that language.
Very knowledgeable and enjoyable to learn from.
This professor knows how students learn. He is always available to help students in or outside the class.
Dr. Yampolskiy is engaging, willing to help you with problems, cares about students, and tries to make class fun. He is a great professor who genuinely wants his students to do well, and he is very understanding and with a lot of patience. Moreover, he goes out of his way to make time for any student on short notice and replies to emails very promptly. Dr. Yampolskiy is highly knowledgeable in his domain. He makes students work hard but encourages and helps them understand concepts taught in class. Furthermore, he is great at explaining intricate and complex concepts in ways that are easy to digest.
He's an excellent programming professor, very knowledgeable and helpful to all students regardless of background in programming.
He is a great teacher, and his class is really interesting. He actually goes over material that is useful and has us complete real projects instead of cookie-cutter projects that everyone would cheat on anyways. I actually feel capable of applying the things I learned in this class to real projects.
He is my CECS 130 professor, and he is the best on what he teaches. His class is challenging, but it is very enjoyable.
Professor was very knowledgeable in the field of A.I. and definitely seemed very interested in teaching the topic to the students.
Professor Yampolskiy is a fantastic instructor. He explains the lectures with understanding and clarity which he does his best to allow students to become familiar with the material. He is always available for questions or assistance outside of class. In addition to this, he is looking for ways to improve the class and its operations.
He's a super great professor who prioritizes students' learning and understanding over meaningless testing.
Good professor, fair grader
After retaking CS 130 for 3 times, I took the course for the 4th time with Roman and I passed! He really explains the lectures very well. He is a great professor!
He is a great professor.
He's funny & cool, and I like him.
Professor Yampolskiy is the best professor I have had to date in my time at UofL. He's taught me not just the material presented in class, but also how to develop my own understanding and approach to the problems we are presented in our weekly labs. He is approachable and doesn't take his lectures too seriously, while still presenting the material.
Dr. Yampolskiy is an amazing lecturer, and I have learned a ton from his class. I am very honored to have him as a professor.
His class was engaging and always strives to help whenever he can. Really outstanding professor which I really would like to take his Artificial Intelligence class in the upcoming semesters.
Dr. Yampolskiy is a really fantastic professor, his artificial intelligence class was a perfect blend of theory, application, and group work. He is always willing to talk to students about class material or help with side projects. He also organized the speaker series for the CECS Department this semester which was a really wonderful event.
Amazing professor!!
A
He's a cool guy

Roman is an enthusiastic, intelligent, and pioneering advisor.
I've had complete support for my PhD while working for Dr. Yampolskiy. He is a great mentor. Always encouraging me :)
Dr. Yampolskiy really cares about students and their ability to learn. He did an excellent job giving us the opportunity to learn in the classroom and by having extra speakers attend campus. I have learned a lot from him.
He is chill and a great teacher and deserves recognition.
Great lectures!! Learned a lot in this class.
Best teacher I've had in Speed School so far.
Dr. Yampolskiy has been a great professor throughout the semester. He and the TAs have been a great help on my path towards success.

Great, funny, helpful professor.
I learned a lot from his class, and he is very sweet and helpful.

Jamie Abrams
Brandeis School of LawProfessor Abrams is an outstanding professor. She encourages each and every one of us to engage in class discussions and has led me towards high confidence in an exam setting.
Best law professor!!!!
This is a professor who actually cares about the students. In every conversation with her, it is easy to see that she genuinely cares about our success, our education, and our lives. If every other professor and administrator cared half as much as Professor Abrams did, the school may not have run into some of its recent issues.
Professor Abrams makes being a first-year law student an enjoyable experience. She makes the law fun to understand, yet pushes you and aids in students' learning content at the same time. She is extremely approachable and takes huge chunks of her time to ensure students know what she expects on the exam. She is the best professor I have ever had and is deserving of recognition.
Professor Abrams goes above and beyond her job duties--she prepares students for work in the legal profession in such a thoughtful and encouraging way.
She is the best! One of the most effective teachers I've ever had. She prepared us so well for the final and constantly encouraged us. She has a great sense of humor and is incredibly relatable and approachable.
Professor Abrams is one of the best professors I've ever had (through 2.5 years of law school and 4 years of undergrad at this institution). I had her in 2016-2017 for Torts I and Torts II and was fortunate to have her again this semester for Family Law. She teaches in a dynamic way that engages students and brings to the forefront the nuances of the law, the dramatic changes that have been taking place across the country and within Kentucky over the past few years. Her client-centered approach to the law allows us to simulate what it would be like to practice family law and to actually counsel clients about how the law affects them, how the law may be different from their preconceived notions, etc. Beyond the engaging (and dare I say sometimes fun) style in which she teaches the course, Professor Abrams is perhaps the most thoughtful professor I have ever had in how she interacts with her students. Talking with her is like talking with a long lost friend--she takes an interest in our lives (personally and professionally) and genuinely cares about our professional growth and our lives. If I had a question about a concept she taught and needed to stop by during office hours, not only would she answer my questions, but would also inquire about how I was doing and how my family was doing, etc. Beyond that, she made herself available for questions more than any professor I've ever had, including making herself available on Blackboard, if needed, over Thanksgiving break(!). While law school carries with it multitudes more stress than undergrad could ever dream of, it's because of professors like Professor Abrams that the law school experience feels more rewarding as we know our professional growth is that much greater having learned from her, but is also less stressful because we've had the pleasure of having a professor who truly cares.
I would like to nominate Prof. Jamie Abrams as a Faculty Favorite. Prof. Abrams has an amazing energy whenever she teaches. I have had her for two classes representing two different legal disciplines. She stresses concept mastery and application in her delivery and in every assignment given. She makes herself readily accessible to students for questions. Prof. Abrams is always positive and direct regarding her expectations for class participation and examination readiness; she sets a high bar for her students and creates an environment through her teaching methods that facilitates successful subject mastery, which will ultimately lead to bar passage and excellent client representation. Prof. Abrams is also a warm and compassionate person, and this is apparent when observing her student interactions and her obvious concern for her students and their personal growth within her class and beyond. I believe that UofL Law School students are extremely blessed to have a professor of Jamie Abrams’ high caliber teaching ability, intelligence, and passion. -
V. Joshua Adams
English
College of Arts and SciencesA professor who seems genuinely interested in every student. Makes you want to voice your opinions in his class (ENGL 105) and encourages students to think for themselves. Charismatic and friendly.
Professor Adams brings class discussions to places never thought possible. He engages parts of our minds that we don't even realize are there. Outside of class, Professor Adams is accessible to help give feedback on class writing, so you can grow as a student. He is a caring and accommodating professor who always prioritizes his students' needs. We need more Professor Adams at the University of Louisville. -
Brittany Adams-Pope
Equine Industry Program
College of BusinessShe is absolutely wonderful! She cares about all of her students and is an amazing professor!
Dr. AP made her class an absolute blast, and it was the only class I had this entire semester where I was genuinely excited to go every day.
Dr. AP was by far my favorite professor this semester and was an even better person outside of class. She made my transition to college as a whole a lot easier and was a mother figure for many equine industry students, and she deserves this award more than anyone.
She is an amazing professor.
Dr. AP is a wonderful educator and person! She welcomed me with open arms to her class this semester, even though I am not an Equine major. Her positive attitude and resiliency are admirable and make learning that much better. I cannot think of a better professor that I have had in my 3 years at UofL. -
Meera Alagaraja
Educational Leadership, Evaluation, and Organizational Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentIn my final semester of my master's program, I wanted to nominate Dr. Alagaraja for her outstanding commitment to her students' learning, growth, and overall success in her classes. I was in two of her classes this final semester, and I believe she is an outstanding professor in this program that places such a high emphasis on her students' growth through her leadership and commitment to excellence.
Dr. Alagaraja is passionate about research, and it shows in her teaching and mentoring. She makes class interesting and interactive. She is available to students outside of class and is very transparent with us as well.
Dr. Alagaraja is a highly intelligent, wonderful instructor who cares about the learning and success of her students. She takes time to ensure that students are understanding the concepts in her courses. She is always open to providing students with feedback and assistance in their projects. The environment she creates in her classrooms is both intellectually stimulating and very enjoyable. I am grateful that I have been able to spend time learning from such a smart, strong woman.
While taking ELFH-671, Performance Improvement, Dr. Alagaraja introduced a training module built with Articulate Storyline; an e-learning software used to develop interactive content. The module starts with the manager expressing employee performance concerns. Students were asked to identify and conduct the appropriate level of job analysis, process or organize to determine where the performance problem(s) reside. Students then selected an appropriate response A, B or C. Each option contained instructional explanation on whether the answer was correct or not. I particularly enjoyed the interactive training and asked if there were more to come. She explained that this was the first edition, but there are plans to build additional modules for future courses. I saw this as an opportunity for me to build e-learning development skills. I met with Dr. Alagaraja and asked if I could build a few modules as part of my Capstone course. She agreed and introduced me to Dr. Beth Case, Program Manager, in the Delphi Center. Dr. Case introduced me to the software and provided great suggestions for the project. I have successfully developed 11 e-learning modules. I cannot thank Dr. Alagaraja enough for offering her time/knowledge and for the valuable experience that I’ve gained this semester. I have worked in web design for 15 years. In the near future I will transition from Web Development to Human Resources (e-learning/training & development). The skills that I’ve gained through Dr. Alagaraja’s support are truly life changing and will provide an easier transition. Dr. Alagaraja is a great asset to the College of Education and the University of Louisville. Thanks so much.
Dr. Alagaraja is my advisor, and she has guided me throughout my MSHROD program since day one. I met with her 2.5 years ago, and she was just as passionate about her students and job as she is today. I remember going back and forth trying to decide if I should enroll in the program, and she answered any and every question I had right away. She followed up, made time for me to come onsite, and was very open and honest about the program. She has guided me throughout this program, helped me enroll in classes, and answered emails ASAP (some at 10-11pm and some at 4-5am). Dr. Alagaraja is a very busy person, but she seems to always make time for her students. I was lucky enough to have her as my capstone professor, and I could not have thought of a better professor to close out the program. Her positivity, support, and love for what she does, does not go unnoticed. I appreciate everything Dr. Alagaraja has done, and I believe she deserves this award more than anyone. She is kind, humble, smart, and above all, compassionate and supportive of her work and students.
Dr. A exemplifies the best of professionalism, as well as being a lovely and courteous person who inspires me. She is consistently positive and always has a kind word for every student in the class. She encourages each student's participation but does so without putting the student "on the spot" for giving an answer which the student would not be capable of giving. She always nudges the students to participate in some way -- even if it is only by typing a word or two in the online chat box. She's an all-around amazing teacher. She has been my teacher for two classes and if my degree program required other classes that she taught, I would seek her out for a third class--I like and respect her teaching style that much! Dr. A has been so kind to me that I not only consider her one of my favorite teachers, but I also think of her as a friend. I wholeheartedly support Dr. A for a faculty favorite award!
Dr. A has made a huge difference for me within the classroom this past semester by encouraging me to complete and submit a paper for a conference. This helped me learn the rigors of what it takes to submit a conference-worthy paper and what is necessary for a path I plan to pursue in the future. She has been incredibly supportive through this semester, often spending time sitting and discussing my future, research, and ways in which people deal with the stress of work and school. Dr. A has encouraged me a lot in helping to solidify my future goals and work towards pursuing them. -
Khaldoun Almousily
Classical and Modern Languages
College of Arts and SciencesHe is the best professor I ever met in my life. Big thank you for him.
He's an amazing professor! His love for the topic really makes his students engage in class. I've only heard great things about him and the class, and that's the reason many of us sign up to take his class.
UOFL's MOST UNDERRATED PROFESSOR
He is so fun and awesome, and you still end up learning a lot in class!!!!
Professor Khaldoun makes learning fun. While I was very hesitant to take Arabic, he proved to all of his students that Arabic is not hard at all and it can be very fun. He's always accessible outside of class and is only an email away to help students. I've taken two languages while in school, but none have been as fun as his Arabic class. While enjoying the class, I also learn quite a lot and the material really sticks with me.
Khaldoun is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. His energy and easy-going personality makes it so much fun to come to class every day. He makes learning Arabic so much fun and teaches us about the culture as well as the language. He is so funny and understanding. Everyone should have a professor like Khaldoun in their lives.
He is phenomenal.
In the short few weeks I have known Khaldoun, he has completely transformed my idea of what learning another language means. I was never excited to go to Spanish or French the way I am about Arabic. He takes one of the most difficult languages to learn and convinces us each day that we are smart, capable students for whom Arabic is not a challenge for. His dedication to us learning the content extends outside of the classroom. There is never a day that I don't laugh in that class because of his funny stories, friendship with our TA, or silly songs we sing. He takes the honest truth of his upbringing and inspires us to dream our biggest dreams but to always remember where we came from. I am forever changed for knowing Professor Almousily, even if only for a semester or two.
Almousily is a great teacher. The dude is a legend. He made me love Arabic and Arabic culture. A funny and interesting guy!
Professor Almousily has been one of the best professors I have had in my first semester of college. He made it extremely enjoyable learning a new language by incorporating fun activities and stories into. He was very funny and wasn’t afraid to make fun of himself to make us feel comfortable around him. I would recommend his class to anyone who wants to learn a fun language with an amazing professor.
I always thought, before signing up for this class, that learning a new language will be a heavy and boring task. But, after I signed up for Arabic language with Professor Almousily (AKA the Jordanian Muhammed Ali), I became more and more interested in the language and the culture. It introduced me to new norms that have been always a new world for me that I wanted to discover. The instructor was very helpful, inspiring, motivating, and cooperative. He makes things easier for us, and I always find an answer when needed. He has the best sense of humor too that makes the class fun. Although Arabic has a new set of alphabets, sounds, and structure, I found out that after this class, I became able to greet someone in Arabic and read short phrases. This is the best class ever, and I enjoyed it every day.
I love the way this class is set up and ran. I never thought I could learn another language, but because of Professor Almousily, I feel like I am learning Arabic.
Professor Almousily is not only a great professor, he's also an individual who truly cares for his students and their education. He's a great person, and I feel fortunate to have him as a professor. His class is a pleasure.
Professor Almousily has continued to be my favorite professor ever semester I've had him, because he is very interactive and really wants us to learn Arabic. He doesn't teach like other professors because he knows that learning a language doesn't mean just showing up for class and half understanding what's going on. He really cares about the language and the culture and knows how to teach both at once.
Regardless of the subject, this professor creates a fun environment to learn in. In my past experiences, doing this helps the brain link things together better, rather than a simple, memorize and recall form. He goes above and beyond for his students and never shows up to class without a smile. Students that come in under the weather are usually cheered up by the end of the 50 minutes. I can say this from personal experience. -
Rob Amchin
Music Education
School of MusicDr. Amchin puts his students before himself and will go out of his way to work with you and find the best way to explain things based on how you learn. He always makes learning fun and always encourages his class to move and get out from behind those “awful desks.” He is one of the most understanding people I know and has respect for everyone he meets. He loves what he does and it shows through his love for his students and for music.
Dr. Amchin is a fantastic educator who seems to have his craft down pat. He teaches a class called “Intro to Orff Schulwerk: Music and Movement” which discusses an elemental framework of music education. He makes the class fun and allows us to really enjoy ourselves while still pushing us to think deeply and critically. He uses a hands-on approach to teaching, which is very conducive to the learning of the particular subject matter. The class is actually outside of my major, as I am studying music therapy, but Dr. Amchin still makes it clear that my learning is important to him and does everything he can to make sure I am successful. He is incredibly kind and helps all of his students know how valuable our education is. I have learned so much about Orff Schulwerk but also about life from Dr. Amchin. -

English
College of Arts and SciencesHe refunded me for a book we didn't even read. He let me harass him in his office hours about the texts we were reading in class and even stuff that wasn't in class. He's a really cool, genuine, impactful professor. I think getting to know him has helped me figure out the path I want to take in life, and I can't thank him enough for that. Who's on first?! -
Daryl Arend
Communication
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Arend has made an impact on my first year here at UofL. I was scared coming to college that my professors wouldn't be as friendly as teachers in high school, but it came to my surprise that professors are awesome at UofL. Professor Arend really made me feel at home at UofL. He's funny and always makes class the best time. Professor Arend’s signature shirt is the Hawaiian style shirt, and all of his students love it. Professor Arend also set up a joke poem day for our communication class, and it was one of the funniest things I have ever sat through. Professor Arend is very kind and connects with his students on a personal level. He really is so awesome, and I hope he wins this award. -
Katherine Atwood
Kent School of Social WorkProf. Atwood was not only extremely knowledgeable but also deeply cared about us students. She supported us in our professional development, even outside the classroom. She, furthermore, cared about us individually and personally. Through her unique sense of humor, she helped to increase the climate of our classes.
Dr. Atwood is an extraordinary professor. She went above and beyond during our research class to make sure every single student was following along and that they received the help they needed to pass. She would take time out of her own schedule to have almost weekly office hours twice a week. These office hours were there for us to come and ask the millions of questions we had, and she was always happy to take the time to answer them. I would not have been able to make it through this class without her extra assistance. I never liked research, but after taking her class and having her as a professor, I now enjoy doing research. Dr. Atwood also made the learning environment fun and exciting. During presentations where she knew we would all be stressed and tired, she would bring us treats like candy, cookies, and even pizza! These little touches made us feel like she really cared about our learning, as well as our well-being as students. Thank you, Dr. Atwood, for an amazing two semesters!
Dr. Kathy Atwood is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about research and statistics. She also has the ability to explain what statistical data means to a roomful of students who do not plan on going into the field of research. Dr. Atwood was available and responsive to myself and my peers as we dug into our evidence-based practice projects. She met with us multiple times outside of class hours throughout two semesters to assist each of us. She also has a great sense of humor, stayed true to the course requirements, and supported us in our endeavor to complete our assignments. -

Charles Baker
Criminal Justice
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Baker was my instructor for my online course, CJ 360 Juvenile Justice. Although we never met in person, I felt as if I knew him better than other instructors I have had in the classroom. The most personable thing that he did was to send weekly reminders of assignments due that always included words of encouragement to his students. These words kept me motivated and inspired me to do well in his class. This is why I believe that he should receive the Faculty Favorite Award for Spring 2019. -

Kent School of Social WorkMs. Barrett is my favorite instructor because of the way she brings all of her years of experience with Child Protective Services into the classroom. I can tell that she is teaching because she wants to make a difference in the field of CPS. She is constantly tying real-world experience with our class content. She also incorporates actual tools used in the CPS field along with course material from the text. I was not even considering a career in CPS before this class, but now I'm signed up for her second semester class and having CPS as a career option. -

Debra Bauder
Special Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Bauder has been one of my favorite professors that I have ever had in my many years of being a college student at UofL. I took a particular interest in her department as an undergraduate student, and I decided that I would get my master's degree in the subject because of her and my own shared interest. She has been so wonderful, accommodating, and flexible throughout this entire program. She is the advisor for my program and has been so pleasant to work with and is always very positive and passionate about assistive technology. She has truly made this program a wonderful experience! -
Blake Beattie
History
College of Arts and SciencesI didn't think I would enjoy my GenEd. I thought I would dread going to it and I wouldn't put much effort in. However, after going to the first couple of classes, I could tell that Professor Beattie was truly passionate about teaching and the subject matter he was teaching us. He made me want to come to class, take good notes, and study well for his tests. I have enjoyed his class and I'm honestly upset I'm done with it. -

Awesome professor and very passionate about the subjects he teaches.
He is a great guy. He cares a lot about his job and this comes out through his teaching. Always available to talk to students and great at explaining difficult concepts. -
Matt Bergman
Educational Leadership, Evaluation, and Organizational Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Bergman didn’t realize what he was handed when my name landed on his advisee list as a grad student with only two remaining classes left in order to graduate. As it turns out, Dr. Bergman was not only my advisor, but SURPRISE! he ended up being my teacher this semester also. The one course that I needed in order to graduate wasn’t going to be offered until two semesters in the future. He offered to research the possibility of an individually tailored Course by Conference, and because of this kindhearted gesture, I will be graduating next week. Now how do you begin to thank an advisor turned teacher who would offer to do this for a student? I surely don’t know, but nominating him for a favorite faculty sounds like a great place to start. Thank you, Dr. Bergman! You truly went above and beyond what could ever be expected, and I appreciate you very much! UofL is fortunate to have you. -
Simona Bertacco
Comparative Humanities
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Bertacco's, "The Global Human" course, has been one of the most challenging that I have taken at UofL. Dr. Bertacco takes time to help us understand concepts and bring them into our own work. She challenges us to elevate our thinking and our writing. -

Tiffany Brandt
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesTJ is the best TA I've ever had. I wanted to go to class and stay after. She made me excited to learn and participate in labs. She was one of the most kind, encouraging, hardworking, and knowledgeable people I've met. TJ made sure to talk to us like we were biology majors even though we didn't have as extensive knowledge about microbiology as a bio major would. She was incredibly thorough and explained procedures super well and always took time to explain more complicated content. TJ was always willing to offer help outside of class-time and wanted her students to succeed. She offered so much advice on study skills, as well as providing help to the micro lecture, which she didn't teach. She was personable and super accommodating. I wish I could have TJ again! -
William Brantley

College of Arts and SciencesFor his online Web Development course, he provided excellent videos and feedback. Our assignments were crafted in a way that caused the information to stick and inspired a desire to learn outside of class. By that, I mean that the lectures left me satisfied and confident in my understanding and caused me to be hungry/excited for more. A+ grade for this instructor. -

Carolyn Brown
Middle and Secondary Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentCarolyn Brown is always so bright and a joy to be around. She makes learning fun and the class engaging. I think she would be the perfect person to showcase as a great instructor amongst others.
I was blessed to have Ms. Brown as my university supervisor during my practicum and student teaching. I remember being so nervous before the first lesson that I taught, but she encouraged me to relax and told me I would do just fine. Even after lessons that didn’t go so well, she always phrased her feedback in a positive way and helped me to understand why doing certain things differently next time might be better. Ms. Brown has such a passion for teaching and was never afraid to interact with the students in my classes. I appreciate all of the times she has shared her own experiences with me from different roles she has played in the education field. There was never a dull moment when I had her as a professor this spring semester! Her enthusiasm made me even more excited to be a teacher, even though I didn’t think it was possible before. As I got closer and closer to graduation and was trying to make some tough decisions about what the best path for me to take next would be, I knew she was the right person to help me work through the thoughts and feelings I was having. Thanks to her, I have a better sense of direction now and feel ready for the next stage in my life. Ms. Brown makes everyone feel comfortable and has always believed in my fellow classmates and me. She has offered to help us in whatever way possible and fill out recommendations which is always appreciated. I am forever grateful for her!
She works so hard to make sure that every student knows what is going on and helps each person individually. She goes out of her way to help everyone succeed and helps us deal with our stress. She also provides us with incredible information and books to help us be successful teachers in our future. Kay-Brown is the most incredible woman!!!!! -

Jennifer Brueckner-Collins
Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology
School of MedicineDr. Brueckner is a patient and kind person whose humble approach to teaching gross anatomy has made her one of the best professors I have ever had. She never fails to show how much she cares about her students and always makes us feel welcome in her office. Dr. Brueckner is a special kind of person who makes herself available to students beyond what she requires us to learn in order to show us respect and genuine care for our lives. As a student who traveled out of their home state to pursue an education, I appreciate her ability to show me compassion and make me feel like the University of Louisville School of Medicine is really my home away from home. I hope she is one of the "Top" nominees because she has to be, without a doubt, one of the best professors in the country. -
Rhonda Buchanan
Classical and Modern Languages
College of Arts and SciencesOutstanding character and personality! Presence as an instructor has truly been a blessing. LALS Therapy dog, Jake, is a very good boy and can really take away the stress that comes with finals and papers.
Dr. Rhonda Buchanan is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She loves teaching and it shows. She is energetic and positive and knows how to ask questions in such a way as to bring out the knowledge that the students have, giving them confidence in their recognition. She shares her own personal books, props, videos, music, even food, to add to our experience of Hispanic cultures. She gives feedback to the whole class when we make similar mistakes and gives so much helpful personal feedback on our daily and test essays, which has not been done much in my other Spanish classes. Her tests are challenging. She has high standards and prepares each class and expects much of her students as well. Dr. Buchanan also adds sparkle to the class by infusing Spanish slang and aphorisms that we would not normally be able to get from the text. I looked forward to the class each day. _x000D__x000D_ Education students also would gain a lot by sitting in her classes for mentoring and inspiration.
She has made Spanish classes entertaining, and it is impossible to go through her classes without learning a lot about Hispanic culture. She brightens my day with her enthusiasm. I took a class with her that I didn't need just to have her as my professor again.
Dr. Buchanan is such a delight to have! She goes the extra mile in her lessons. On top of that, she is immensely intelligent and passionate about all things concerning Latin America.
Dr. Buchanan is one of the best educators I've ever had. She has a clear passion for the literature she teaches as well as for her students. She genuinely cares about her students as people and works to make them succeed as much as possible. I've already planned my schedule so that I can take a class with her again.
Dr. Buchanan is so passionate about her studies! She also loves her students very much and cares that they are understanding the material. She is extremely willing to help, and I'd love to have her for more classes.
Dr. Buchanan is undoubtedly one of the best professors at the University of Louisville, for her extensive knowledge and ability to help students succeed in their educational goals.
She is super passionate about what she teaches and makes her students excited to learn too.
Dr. B is my absolute favorite professor in the world. She has been so nice and welcoming with learning the Spanish language, and I could not thank her enough for that. She is always willing to help her students in any way that she can. She goes out of her way to make sure that every student is progressing appropriately and genuinely cares about them. Fav faculty member for sure. Rhonda Buchanan is the best professor I have had at the University of Louisville. She cares so deeply about each one of her students and would do anything to make sure that they are understanding the concepts and succeeding in and outside of the classroom. I love this lady and she is absolutely amazing.
She is an excellent resource who is passionate in her field. It is a joy to be in her class! -
Jessica Buckley
Educational Leadership, Evaluation, and Organizational Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Buckley had a profound impact on the reason why I graduated with my master’s. When I lost my way after not attending school for almost one year, I started contemplating how much I wanted to complete it. I reached out to her, even though she wasn't my advisor, and she set up a complete plan for me to finish my degree. She set up timelines, provided all the links to various registration sites, etc. When I ran into an issue with the Bursar's Office for not withdrawing on time, and they wanted to charge me, she successfully worked on my behalf to have the charges removed. She did all of this for me, and she was not even my advisor. She is an amazing talent for the university, and I hope that everyone recognizes it as I do. -
Luke Buckman
Honors Program
College of Arts and SciencesLuke has been one of the most special people to me this year as a freshman. He always encourages my questions and had faith in me when I had none in myself. He trusts me more than he should, and I trust him just as much. He constantly encourages learning and unlearning. He is such a beautiful ally and a beautiful human, and I don't believe that I would have gotten through this year without him. -

I think Professor Byun is a very important part of our department, and without her we would be lost. -
Teresa Cantrell
Philosophy
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Cantrell is one of the most incredible professors I have ever had. The things she taught me I see in the world everywhere; she changed my outlook on some things in life. She can teach for over an hour without the use of any notes or an aid like a PowerPoint and still makes class incredibly fun with anecdotes and philosophical puns. I have loved my semester with Dr. Cantrell. -
Cara Cashon
Psychological and Brain Sciences
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Cashon is the bright light of any room she walks into. I took her Psychology and Social Media course this semester as my last Honors course for my undergraduate career. Being an Economics major, I was a little wary of signing up for this since I had never taken a Psychology course, but I'm so glad I did. Dr. Cashon has by far been one of the best professors that I have had during my time at UofL--and being a double major, I have had my share of professors. She is charismatic and very deeply cares about the success of her students. She makes you feel important. She is a great facilitator of discussion, and she makes you feel like you have a seat at the table in her classroom. She clearly loves what she does and I admire her for it. She is an extremely intelligent researcher and a positive role model for all students. I could not think of a more deserving professor to win this award than Dr. Cashon. -

Raymond Chastain
Physics and Astronomy
College of Arts and SciencesMakes class fun, relevant, and memorable while fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding/appreciation of the course material.
Dr. Chastain is such an amazing professor. He makes learning a difficult subject like physics fun and enjoyable. He also is very gifted at teaching difficult course material in a way that makes sense to students. Dr. Chastain truly cares for his students and is an exceptional professor and person.
Arguably one of my favorite professors yet!
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I nominate Dr. Chastain as my favorite educator for the Spring 2019 semester. I was fortunate enough to take Dr. Chastain's Physics 222 course this spring after taking his Physics 221 course last fall. Dr. Chastain did an amazing job of creating a positive and fun learning environment while effectively using the technology in the new Belknap Academic Building. It was obvious Dr. Chastain carefully thought out and meticulously planned each lecture and homework assignment to make every aspect of his class purposeful and intentional. Dr. Chastain also took the time to get to know his students, even though he had a large class size. While facilitating active participation in class, he was able to call on students by name. I was nervous about taking a college-level physics course but after the first few weeks of Dr. Chastain’s course, I gained confidence and found enjoyment in learning physics. I have recommended Dr. Chastain countless times to my peers who are planning on taking physics in the future in the hopes that they will reap the same benefits and enjoyment as I did. I can only hope to have another professor like Dr. Chastain; one who shows a true interest in students’ learning and involvement in the classroom and one who makes the class so enjoyable and intentional.
Dr. Chastain is one of the best professors I have ever had. He cares about his students' success. He structures class so that everyone is engaged and learns, and he never assigns homework that is not useful. Every bit of his design for class and outside work promotes learning and it makes it easy to learn.
I had Chastain for both Physics 221 and 222. He was absolutely amazing and definitely more helpful than any other professor I've had. I do not want a career in the sciences, pre-med, or any of those fields and still had to take this class.
Very knowledgeable and very helpful. He knows how to teach and what he is teaching, a trait that not many people hold. -
Diane Chlebowy
School of NursingDr. Chlebowy is awesome! Let me tell you why. First and foremost, Dr. Chlebowy is an excellent professor! She explains course content clearly, encourages discussion throughout class sessions, and gives her students opportunities in class to apply what we have learned to real-life scenarios. Additionally, she sets aside time in every class to address any questions or concerns her students might have about upcoming assignments. Last, but not least, she encourages students to send her drafts of any assignment before it’s due, so that she can give feedback on it. Second, Dr. Chlebowy does a fantastic job as the Master’s Entry to Professional Nursing (MEPN) program coordinator! In the semesters where my cohort of MEPN students were not taking a course with her, she scheduled meetings a couple times a semester for us to discuss any questions or concerns we had about the program with her. In semesters where my cohort has had her as a professor, she addresses any program-related concerns at the beginning or end of class. This has been very helpful; my cohort has had multiple concerns about the way a clinical or class was going, and once we spoke to her about it, we learned that our expectations for that particular class or clinical didn’t match up with its intended purpose. Once we adjusted our expectations, we were much happier and a lot less stressed. Any time there has been an issue that she can’t do anything about during that semester, she makes sure to take note of it and tells us our feedback is important as she will use it to make sure the next MEPN cohort doesn’t have the same issues. -

School of Public Health and Information SciencesI took two courses with Dr. Creel. She is an amazing person. She's so helpful. She added a lot to my knowledge in Health Policy.
Dr. Creel creates a welcoming environment in the classroom for students of all views and provides the information as it is. She is accessible outside of the classroom and goes the extra mile to help students.
Dr. Creel is not only an amazing professor, she is also an amazing person. As a first generation college student working toward my MPH degree, I have often found myself in situations where I had no one to turn to in my family or friends for help. Dr. Creel was always there to step in. She has spent hours ensuring my graduate career is successful and fulfilling by helping with everything from designing business cards to answering questions about appropriate business attire to helping me make the most of conferences I have attended. She is always supportive and encouraging and takes a genuine interest in how I am doing. Dr. Creel has been integral to my success as a graduate student and has continuously renewed my interest in working in health policy. I cannot imagine a more deserving professor of this award than Dr. Creel.

She had made class more interesting and engaging in how she delivers each lesson. -

History
College of Arts and SciencesSo, I am someone who loves history but really the best way I can learn it is by story._x000D__x000D_ And this professor always did an amazing job teaching the class in a way that we could understand it. He taught in a story-telling way._x000D__x000D_ Because of him, I want to get a minor in history. On top of his teaching, he was funny, pretty understanding, and if you got something wrong, he helped you get it right and explained why what you said was wrong. He actually taught. By far, will probably always be my favorite professor. -

College of Arts and SciencesDr. Dalle goes above and beyond for his students. His classes are organized and informative. He is always available to answer questions and makes the material as easy to learn as possible, even when it is difficult or dry. I have learned so much in his courses, and it would have never been possible without a prof like him. -
Judith Danovitch
Psychological and Brain Sciences
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Danovitch is an amazing professor! She is so willing to adjust her class to accommodate the needs of every individual student. Finding a professor at a university as large as UofL is rare, but I'm so glad I did. She's knowledgeable and fair and possesses the ability to teach the material in many different ways. She is always available to answer questions and answers them the best way possible. I would recommend her class to anyone who is even remotely interested in Psychology, Working with Children, or even those who just need another credit hour or who are looking to get a GenEd requirement fulfilled. Taking her class this semester was the best decision I could've made, and I will take what I've learned from her with me throughout my future.
Great professor who kept the class interested and involved! I am a graduating senior, and she has taught one of my favorite classes out of my four years at UofL.
Professor Danovitch cares about her students well- being in and out of the classroom. She dedicates herself to providing the best support so that her students can succeed.
Amazing teacher!
She is an amazing professor and incredibly enthusiastic about teaching.
Dr. Danovitch is a great professor; she is passionate about her research and the content she teaches. Moreover, she always makes sure that everyone in the class understands the content and is very accessible for questions and concerns.
Honestly, the best psych professor I've had in my five years here. Made class fun and interesting using techniques I can bring in real life.
Dr. Danovitch is truly an amazing professor. She opened my eyes to a lot of misconceptions in psych in terms of teaching it that other professors didn't.
Dr. Danovitch is passionate about being a psychologist, a researcher, a professor, and a mentor. Her class was engaging in and out of the classroom. I felt like I was more supported by her than by any other professor in four years of college. She was very interested in helping her students not only learn the material, but be as successful as possible in our field. She facilitated class projects and discussions with an eagerness to actually hear our thoughts. I think she is a really great professor and has earned the title of Favorite, at least for me. -

Betty Doyle
Early Childhood and Elementary Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentBetty Doyle worked the entire semester to ensure that her teacher candidates were informed on jobs they were applying to. She made sure we had speakers come in from schools and the career and development center. She was so kind and caring and understood where we were in the program. -
Caroline Driscoll
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesCaroline is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter she teaches and made it really easy for me to absolutely LOVE taking her section of Biology 104. She deserves a really big shout out for explaining why the lessons that were taught pertain to our future along with a wide scope of how the environment is changing every day based on these concepts. All of the instructors and faculty at UofL are incredible, but I feel that Caroline goes above and beyond to change the lives of her students, and I hope I get to work with her again in my academic career! -
David Dubofsky
Finance
College of BusinessDr. Dubofsky has been one of the most influential people in my educational career. He is passionate about teaching and about his students. He has helped me in advancing my career by connecting me with internship, networking, and career development opportunities.
Dr. Dubofsky has been an exceptional professor this semester. He makes class interesting by breaking up the monotony through things like showing current events, speaking about financial topics that are relevant to students now and in the future, and giving examples from his life that may apply to concepts we're learning. In addition, you can tell Dr. Dubofsky is passionate about teaching. For instance, he tries to accommodate all learners by learning about new techniques that may be beneficial in the classroom. You can tell he wants his students to succeed. Also, Dr. Dubofsky realizes that the financial concepts presented in the book may not apply to everyone and not be overwhelmingly interesting to everyone. So, I think he tries to adjust his teaching in that way as well to provide concise information. Lastly, Dr. Dubofsky has been accessible outside of class for additional help on homework and concepts that may have not been fully understood the first time. -
Erick Dubuque
Special Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentI have had the opportunity to work with Erick as his student and supervisee for about two years. In this time, he has consistently gone above and beyond for me and all of his students. He has pushed us to reach our full potential and go outside of our comfort zone in order to be better students and professionals in our field. He is an advocate for his supervisees and students. He has always been thoughtful when addressing our wants and needs for where we want to spend time enhancing our experience in our practicum site. He is an outstanding leader in the field, educator and person. Erick's strong integrity sets an example for all who have the opportunity to know him. He 100% deserves an award. Dr. Dubuque is a phenomenal educator who is truly passionate about the content he teaches. His lessons keep his students actively engaged, and he’s always willing to answer any questions or clarify information. His assignments are always purposeful and helpful in making the content we learn more concrete. I always look forward to his classes!
Dr. Dubuque goes above and beyond to ensure that his students are making connections between the content and the professional setting in which we work. Dr. Dubuque works to ensure that the information we receive is cohesive and up-to-date in terms of current work happening within the Applied Behavior Analysis field!
Dr. Dubuque is a fantastic instructor who consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that his students fully understand the material presented in his classes.
Professor Dubuque is knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. His strategies for ensuring that we are engaged and retain information are effective. -

Marcelo Durski
Comprehensive Dentistry
School of DentistryTakes attention to students’ strengths and weaknesses in order to help the student succeed. He is encouraging but constructive and provides helpful advice specific to each student. I cannot thank him enough for his efforts, and I think he goes above and beyond what other faculty members do to help all of his students however he can. I can’t think of anyone more deserving than Dr. Durski of this recognition. He truly cares about his students’ success and will do whatever he can to ensure student accomplishments. -
Perri Eason
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Eason has been one of my favorite professors of all time. I had her CVA class this past semester, and I learned so, so much. She teaches her class with enthusiasm, and I can tell that she truly cares about her students. Dr. Eason is kind, approachable, easy to understand, and available to answer questions whenever I need her. I also LOVED that she incorporated an "art project" into her CVA class; it was a very refreshing and new approach to teaching biological concepts. I also love how Dr. Eason teaches her classes without the "pre-med" scope added to it: animals and adaptations are discussed based on how they interact in nature, not how someone would see it in a doctor's office. From this approach, Dr. Eason reignited my passion about why I chose to get a degree in biology, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
Dr. Eason truly wishes to help her students by assisting them with questions and concerns and consulting with them about how to make class projects more enjoyable and meaningful. She caters to the needs of multiple students and different types of learners by incorporating various types of student projects, testing styles, and presentations into her Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy lectures. She gives lectures with great examples, stories, and pictures to make the material more interesting, memorable, and relatable. She also encourages students to meet with her about questions or problems. -

Ayman El-Baz
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringThe students can always stop by Dr. Ayman's office to get their questions answered.
I have known Dr. Ayman for almost two years, and I have had the distinct honor to work under his supervision as a PhD student in the Bio-Image lab since August 2017. He is a very helpful person, and he is always available when you need him. I am amazed by his ability to give me valuable instructions and advice that will help me to improve my career and develop a better future, and this is quite important especially for a PhD student like me. Dr. El-Baz always gives me valuable instructions and advice that will help me to improve my career and develop a better future. Also, I would like to mention that I had the great chance to attend one of his classes, “Medical Image Analysis.” He has a great ability to simplify the complex ideas and concepts for his students. In addition, he is a knowledgeable person in his field. Students can learn a lot from him. In summary, Dr. El-Baz is a good person to know and work with.
Dr. El-Baz is very helpful, friendly, and an outstanding supervisor.
Dr. Ayman El-Baz has always been helpful and supportive. I have had several courses taught by him. I have learned so much about bioengineering, research, medical image analysis, etc., from him. To help me learn more about and gain experience in image processing, he welcomed me into his BioImaging Lab and provided me the opportunity to work on some of his projects. In addition to working on another of his projects for my Capstone project, Dr. El-Baz entrusted me with the privilege to co-author a textbook chapter related to this research. This not only gave me valuable experience, it strengthened my confidence in my abilities as a bioengineer. Dr. El-Baz doesn’t just care about teaching. He cares about people and has been supportive and offered helpful advice as I struggled with some personal issues as well. He works tirelessly to make the Bioengineering Department better. He always takes the time to help us, no matter how busy he is. I often drop into his office for help, and he always makes time to answer my questions or helps me with a problem. As I transition into my career, I know that whenever I have questions, need guidance, etc., Dr. El-Baz will be happy to help me. He genuinely wants to see his students develop and grow as competent, successful bioengineers. I would not be where I am today without his kindness, generosity, support, caring, and teaching. Thank you so very much, Dr. El-Baz!
His encouragement and guidance helped me a lot.
Dr. Ayman is an inspiring as well as supporting educator for his students.
He's a doing great job for the favor of his students.

Imad Elhaj
Finance
College of BusinessDr. Elhaj pushes his students to truly learn and understand topics in finance. His teachings in the classroom are not only extremely high quality, but his teaching philosophy is applicable to life outside of the classroom. Elhaj encourages students to put in the hard work, educate themselves on the world around them (not only just the world of finance), and most importantly, to be the master of all things you learn. Dr. Elhaj has been an excellent resource to myself and other students inside and outside of the classroom. He is likely one of our best professors at UofL, and I believe the students, faculty, and community are better due to his presence.
Out of all the classes I have taken relating to finance, Professor Elhaj has taught me the most. I have contacted him multiple times to meet outside of class and office hours, and he has always made himself available. -

Dr. Farrier truly deserves every Reese’s cup in the bag, and she is a wonderful professor and human. -
Andre Faul
Electrical and Computer Engineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringGreat Professor
ECE 210 is a very challenging course, but Dr. Faul's teaching style helps clarify the materials a lot. He plans his slides very carefully with blank space to work in class some examples in details that will become very handy as I re-learn the materials later on. He also offers lecture video recordings that are extremely useful. Looking back, if not for his teaching style and very good lectures, I definitely couldn't have done as well as I did. -

Brandeis School of LawProfessor Giesel was my Professional Responsibility professor for the Fall 2018 semester. She is not only an expert on legal ethics, she is dedicated to her students-- providing helpful feedback and making excellent use of class time. She prepared each of us completely for the MPRE, a prerequisite for sitting for the Bar Examination. Professor Giesel taught me how to think like a lawyer better than any professor at Brandeis. She related all class material to real-life ethical legal dilemmas. She is outstanding. I am better because of her! -
Ryan Gill
Mathematics
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Gill is not only an excellent educator, but an invaluable resource to the Department of Mathematics overall. He oversees many important parts of the graduate program and is always available to talk to students.
Dr. Gill works tirelessly to help the University of Louisville Math Department. As a professor, the graduate adviser, and the graduate director, he always does all that he can to help students. He will spend hours helping UofL students, both students in his class and not in his class. He is always happy to answer any questions a student might have and is willing to spend so much of his time acting in service roles for the department.
Extremely kind, hardworking, and caring. He is not only capable of dealing with extremely complex mathematical problems, but he can break them down to any level required for students to understand. As an academic advisor, he is very straightforward and easy to work with.
He is amazing
Dr. Gill is one of the most thoughtful and supportive teachers I have ever had. He puts in a massive amount of time, consideration and thought into designing lectures, assignments and exams. I love that I never feel hesitant to ask him a question because he is so great about not making students feel stupid or silly, which facilitates my deeper understanding of whatever topic he is teaching.
He's done a bunch to keep the department on its feet these past two years, with the graduate advising and coursework.
Dr. Gill's dedication to students is unparalleled. He works so hard to create a positive learning environment. He is always available to help and give advice. He has been a key person in helping me not only stay in school but really thrive.
Dr. Gill is one of the most dedicated professors I've met in my time at UofL. The amount of time and effort he puts into teaching truly makes a difference for students. Dr. Gill is knowledgeable, diligent, and caring, and it makes learning from him a remarkable experience.
Dr. Gill is the most patient and kind person I've ever met. He did a wonderful job in course teaching and graduate program instruction.

Stephan Gohmann
Economics
College of BusinessDr. Gohmann truly cares about his students and takes time to get to know them. His classes challenge students to think critically and consider a variety of perspectives. Though challenging, Dr. Gohmann’s classes are rewarding and enjoyable, not to mention that the “final exam” is over a pizza lunch!
He encourages thoughtful discussion and critique of both the pieces he selects and traditional economic assumptions. Dr. Gohmann is a great advocate for reading and learning further.
Dr. Gohmann's Capitalism and Economic Freedom course was, by far, the most engaging and beneficial course I've taken at UofL. The class was well-guided by Dr. Gohmann, yet his discussion and reading-based course encouraged students to bring our own research and ideas to the table. Each class, I left more confident in my critical thinking and presentation skills. Having taken this course in my senior year, Dr. Gohmann offered great culmination of what I've learned in this department.
Dr. Gohmann truly cares about the success of his students; throughout the semester, he was approachable, inspiring, and considerate. I have gained a valuable perspective through his class and felt more intellectually challenged in ECON 375 than any other economics elective taken thus far. Dr. Gohmann deserves this award for his contributions to the College of Business and his impact on the lives of his students. -

Ann Greenwell
Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Special Care
School of DentistryI have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Greenwell for several years. I first met her in my second year of dental school. I remember how interesting her lectures were and how passionate and excited she was to tell us about different syndromes and special needs patients that she has treated in over 30 years of pediatric dental experience. As a third and fourth year dental student, I had opportunities to interact with Dr. Greenwell several times during my clinical rotations. She was always very patient, provided helpful explanations and made me feel like she truly cared about my education, and wanted me to learn and understand what we were discussing. As a resident of Graduate Pediatric Dentistry, I can attest that Dr. Greenwell is still very committed to being an outstanding educator. She takes great pride in, not simply telling us, but showing us great qualities, characteristics and mannerisms of a good pediatric dentist. I will always remember one particular, medically compromised patient that needed to be seen in the operating room for dental treatment. Dr. Greenwell was out of town that week and was returning after midnight, but she volunteered to arrive to the hospital at 6:30 am the following day and get the patient treated. That patient did not show for the scheduled appointment, but Dr. Greenwell was so gracious and used this mishap as a teaching moment. I am certain that, if she had a chance to do it over again, she would have made the same decision--as going above and beyond for students, colleagues and patients is the norm for Dr. Greenwell. This award would be a wonderful way to recognize Dr. Greenwell, and the contributions she continues to make as a truly great educator and a wonderful pediatric dentist. Thank you for your time and consideration. -

Kathryn Harman
Health and Sport Sciences
College of Education and Human DevelopmentGreat professor!
Definitely the best teacher there could ever be! She deserves every and any award that could be given. She is a true inspiration in my education and wish she could teach all of my courses. Beyond being a professor, she is an excellent influencer and mentor to many, many students. I, along with other students, are absolutely honored to have her as an educator in our lives. I truly believe I wouldn't have enjoyed my major if it wasn't for her. She reintroduced my interest in exercise science when I started to think it wasn’t for me anymore. I owe my success in biomechanics and anatomy lab 1 to her. She is incredible!
Dr. Harman is by far the best teacher I have had here at Louisville. Every class she is energetic, funny, honest, and wants the best for her students. She teaches multiple classes for the HSS Department and is by far the best professor I have had. She wants her students to understand the material she is teaching. She facilitates her classroom in a way that not only promotes learning, but allows a fun and friendly environment to do so. She loves to answer questions and takes some students' sass, but she knows how to dish it back out in a fun, playful manner that still promotes learning. She is always available whether at her office or via email. She expects a lot out of her students, but she always equips them with all the tools they need to succeed. Even at her office hours, many colleagues, students, and coworkers pass through sharing stories, asking questions, and receiving advice or sharing a quick story with Dr. Harman. She is always cordial and prompt when talking to her. She will be completely honest with you but makes sure you understand every reason behind her judgment. She is understanding when it comes to students' lives and how things come up, not to mention her horrible use of technology, but hey, she still tries her best. It's just fun to sit in Dr. Harman's class seeing the smile put on her face when she realizes she can use the markers on the smartboard to draw on the projector, or when she uses a link correctly to open a fasciotomy. Dr. Harman truly is a faculty favorite among not only her students, but all students of the HSS Department and across the University. She seeks out opportunities for her students through working downtown at the HSC campus, getting an internship, or making a few bucks helping out driving golf carts at Derby. Everything Dr. Harman does, she does it with a smile, compassion, and looks for the best in every little thing. She truly is a wonderful teacher, woman, and asset to our University. For all the things she has done, is currently doing, and will do for her community, the University of Louisville, and most importantly, her students, this is why I have nominated Dr. Kathryn Harman for the honor of Faculty Favorite.
Dr. Harman has made a positive impact on my semester. I have her for both biomechanics and anatomy and physiology lab. She goes above and beyond to give students lecture notes that include charts and pictures. Her teaching style greatly impacted my future career. She helps students by giving tips to help remember information, which none of my science teachers have done. She truly cares about every student. I cannot say enough about how wonderful of a teacher Dr. Harman has been. She is an impeccable teacher. She wants every student to succeed and will make herself available to do so. I have greatly benefited from her teaching and can see myself succeeding in graduate school because of her. I would recommend her classes to anyone and everyone. She is the best professor I have had at this University.
Kathryn has been the best professor I have had since being at UofL. I have learned so much in her class. Although the class is hard, she does an outstanding job at teaching the information and giving ways to study and understand the material. I couldn't recommend her enough.
Dr. Harman is an amazing professor. She makes learning so fun and enjoyable. She also is very gifted at teaching difficult course material in a way that makes sense to students. Dr. Harman truly cares for her students and is an exceptional professor and person.
Best teacher I have had yet!
Katie made learning this material enjoyable and interesting. I am so beyond thankful to have had her as a teacher and look forward to hopefully having her again in the future.
This professor helped me learn more than I have in any other classroom by far, and she also made me a much more confident student.
I really enjoy her class and how she presents the information as a teacher. She truly is extremely helpful.
I nominated Kathryn Harman because she was great. She was so nice and awesome, and every time I had a question and emailed her, she got back right away and tried to help as best as she could.
She is an excellent professor, and I learned a lot.
A
I knew going in that Biomechanics was not an easy course. She helped me to learn the information in ways that made it simpler. I ended up doing really well in the difficult class because of her amazing teaching style.
Hands down the best instructor that I've ever had at UofL, is incredibly gifted at teaching the material in different ways for the different learning styles that everyone has. Also is very approachable and easily accessible outside of the classroom.
Phenomenal teacher...truly cares about her students and their success. Professor Harman is intelligent, makes the classroom fun, and is incredibly personable.
Dr. Harman was an amazing professor this semester. Very well educated, able to relay information to us when we didn't understand, and was always available for questions. I hope that there are classes further in my major that I will get to take with her again!
I nominated Dr. Harman this year, as well as last, because she really cares about her students and strives to make sure everyone has a clear understanding of the material and class expectation. Dr. Harman’s classes are very challenging, but she is extremely knowledgeable of the material and consistently finds ways to communicate the information to ensure everyone understands. She also makes class enjoyable with her positive attitude. All in all, Dr. Harman is an extremely knowledgeable and dedicated professor who has impacted my school career in a positive manner.
Dr. Harman is THE most dedicated teacher I have ever come in contact with. From the first day of class, I knew she would be a teacher that, I could not only look up to, but that would push me to be the best. Dr. Harman’s passion for what she does assured me that I was on the right career path. She has provided me with more knowledge and support in one semester than most of my teachers have in a lifetime. She is dedicated to her students’ success and truly loves what she does and it is apparent. I am forever grateful for the lessons she has taught me and the knowledge I have gained, and I can’t wait to take more of her classes. I am truly blessed to be Dr. Harman’s student, and she has impacted my life forever.

Lesley Harris
Kent School of Social WorkDr. Harris is an excellent professor!! She is well invested in her students and has such great abilities to refine a student from being a novice in research to becoming an excellent one. By taking her year-long qualitative class, she has helped me and my classmates to be better researchers. Also, she helped us get a publication and attend conferences. She is awesome! Dr. Harris teaches us things that will help us, not only in her class, but in our future careers, which is the desire of every student. I am very thankful to have met her.
After having Dr. Harris for Advanced Qualitative Methods, I feel Dr. Harris is dedicated, caring, fair, and passionate in serving the most vulnerable populations through her social work research. Her excitement for qualitative research comes through every time you have class with her. When I would turn in assignments, (including qualitative interviews with 80-90 pages of data), each assignment would come back with detailed feedback starting on page 1, continuing page by page until the last page. I know that she is currently serving on almost 20 dissertation committees. I am not really sure when she sleeps. I would get emails back from her answering a question I had at 10, 11 pm at night, during the week and on weekends. She helped me grow, both as a researcher and as a person, in many ways. I feel so fortunate that I had her as a professor. This fall, when I start on my dissertation, I will be able to apply what I learned from her daily. -
Matthew Harris
Kent School of Social WorkMatthew Harris is a wonderful professor. He is personable, knowledgeable, and makes content relevant to real life. He makes sure to tell students how they can succeed in and out of the classroom, is concerned with students learning skills and knowledge, and is overall a wonderful asset for the Kent School and UofL as a whole.
Matt has been amazing this semester! He truly cares about us as students and as future professionals in the marriage family therapy field. He not only helps us learn in any way he can by his lecture material and answering questions, but goes above and beyond to share personal experience and give us tips from his own practice in the field. He is so compassionate and easygoing.
Matt has encouraged and pushed me every step of the way. At times, feeling overwhelmed after being out of school for many years, having a family, and having some intense anxiety, he listened and offered help and advice. I personally wish we had more professors in the CFT program that had also completed our program. No other professor has the experience that we are going though with school.
He's been amazing teaching and supporting his students this fall 2018 semester. He gave advice, made himself available to his students, answered all questions clearly, and clearly explained all materials in lecture. He gave life advice, professional development advice, and student learning advice. I am grateful to have had Matt as a professor. He is truly a role model!
By using examples from his practice and referring to real-world practice, he made the content relevant. By using role-plays and testing understanding, he made the information more easily assimilated.
Matt is an amazing and dedicated professor and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to each and every class. He has been extremely supportive of all members of the class and has worked hard to push us to do better as social workers/therapists now and to encourage us to carry this on into the future!
Professor Harris does an amazing job with teaching students the importance of micro practice in social work. This semester he was able to take me from having a very limited understanding of intervention techniques and strategies to feeling very confident in order to put them to use. He gave great feedback on all role-play assignments that were used as learning tools to help each of us gain a more in-depth understanding of how we can help our clients. This course, with the help of Professor Harris, has shed much light on micro practice and has given me the ability to help clients at my practicum site. Professor Harris is always quick to respond to student questions or concerns. He is very friendly and approachable. I'm very thankful that I've had the wonderful opportunity to get to know him, and I hope that future students in the program do as well. I am positive now that I will pursue a career as a therapist and to help every client as I have been taught by Professor Harris.
This professor does an amazing job educating our class, ensuring that we understand the material, being relatable and fun while maintaining professionalism. -

School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. Harris is amazing!!! She takes the time to care about students, while still pushing them to be the best.
I appreciate Dr. Harris for challenging me to be my best and for encouraging me through my academic journey!
Dr. Harris is the director of the PhD's in our department. She truly cares about her students. She challenges her students inside the classroom to be the best versions of themselves. I can truly say, through her example and leadership, she inspires me to be better!
Dr. Harris has demonstrated excellence in mentorship. Not only has she provided me with scholarly guidance, but she has also supported my pursuit for professional development. She encourages innovation and challenges students to think critically. She is always willing and ready to accommodate students with diverse needs, making them a priority. She is currently dedicated to improving students’ learning experiences and environments by exploring strategies that are responsive to their learning needs and preferences. -

College of Education and Human DevelopmentShe is amazing. An interesting teacher who goes above and beyond for her class preparation and is a natural teacher. I love every one of her classes.
I am writing to nominate Ann Herd. I am currently a student in one of her classes. Dr. Herd is a great educator. She has consistently challenged and engaged students to learn and grow. She linked class discussion and assignments to real-world examples. Dr. Herd continually mentors and directs students. She cares about preparing students to be future leaders. Dr. Herd continually encourages students to be involved in class discussion and critically think on assignment. I am happy to write this nomination. Thanks.
Dr. Herd is very approachable with questions and has a true enthusiasm for the content she teaches. You can tell she is happy to go the extra mile and provide further tutoring when a student is not grasping the content.
The best so far.
This is the second time I have Dr. Herd as my professor, and both times, I had nothing but excellent interactions with Dr. Herd! Dr. Herd always goes above and beyond to help me with understanding course concepts and provide feedback on my assignment to challenge me to become a critical thinker. Dr. Herd is very dedicated that I have texted her on several just-in-time occasions, and she is so understanding when it comes to students’ work, school, and personal life balance!
Difficult yet fair. Has a way to make everyone learn through her own tough techniques, such as the way she conducts study guides. -

Jeff Hieb
Engineering Fundamentals
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Hieb is an awesome professor who loves what he does and truly wants his students to succeed. As a transfer student into the Speed School this semester, I was a bit intimidated by Engineering Calculus, and the major incorporation of technology into the classroom. Dr. Hieb was always willing to help, and he made great overview videos for each lesson. I couldn't have asked for a better semester. Dr. Hieb is a boss, and I hope to have him again during my journey at Speed School.
Who would had thought that Calc 3 could be fun. Not me that's for sure! Dr. Hieb teaches class like no other Calc professor I've had at Speed school. He goes way beyond the idea of group work and structures his class entirely around it. At first I was worried, but the instructive videos he created to go over and teach lessons helped put my mind at ease. He's always energetic and ready to go in the morning! He is more than willing to spend as much time as needed to go over material that is confusing to any student. Jeff Hieb is by far one of if not the best professors I've had at UofL, and I am already planning on taking another class with him next spring! He loves what he does and it shows!!! -
Paul Himes
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Himes works very hard for his students and takes seriously how they learn and how helpful everything is, from his lectures, quizzes, and exam questions.
I love Dr. Himes' love for his subject. I think he is an amazing professor, and I can see the effort he puts into teaching.
Dr. Himes is passionate about his content area, but his enthusiasm is not limited toward biology. He is equally passionate about his students' success.
Dr. Himes presents complex material in a fun way, often using props and analogies that make sense for the learner. He offers students multiple chances to succeed in his class, yet his quiz and test questions are tough and applicative. Above all else, I can tell he truly cares about us learning the material. His authentic demeanor further endears himself to the class. Thank you, Dr. Himes! -

Rachel Hopp
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Hopp made learning anatomy enjoyable and interactive.
This professor has helped me get my priorities in check and helped me test my study habits in a safe, nonjudgmental way. Her passion to help her students reach the ultimate level of success within biology and relate it to the real world/our passions is phenomenal. I find her to display characteristics that I aspire to have one day and am very proud to know we have a professor such as her teaching at The University of Louisville!
Dr. Hopp is easily one of the best professors I've had at UofL. She's just so good at preparing us for exams whilst actually making us interested in what we are learning. She's always respectful and has a positive attitude.
She's extremely knowledgeable and lays everything out perfectly for us. All we have to do is pay attention and study. I was really nervous for anatomy, but she made it a breeze! A lot of professors simply expect you to have an "A" in the class, but she recognized and praised my efforts, which really gave me a confidence boost. -
Lenore Hoyt
Chemistry
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Hoyt is an outstanding instructor. She engages and care for her students' education and challenges us to learn more. She has made me a better student and thinker.
Dr. Hoyt is seriously one of a kind. I have never had an instructor who has been more passionate about the subject they are teaching and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure her students are successful. She always encouraged classroom participation from everyone and made sure that no one felt disrespected or afraid of sharing their answers. She always had a smile on her face, and I am so happy to have had her fall of my freshman year.
Chem 105 was definitely my hardest class this semester, but it was also the class that I feel taught me the most. Dr. Hoyt has a very hands-on teaching style that was critical to my learning process during this semester. I feel that Dr. Hoyt truly cares about her students and will do whatever she can to make sure that we understand the concepts behind her teaching, as well as retain the information going forward.
She is a great professor. She teaches at a pace that fits most of the students, and she makes sure most of the class gets a topic before moving on. Also, she is great at keeping office hours, if you need extra help or to talk. -

Mary Hums
Health and Sport Sciences
College of Education and Human DevelopmentShe was by far the best professor I have had since coming to college. I really enjoyed her class and how helpful and understanding she was.
This woman is the best professor I have ever come across.
Dr. Hums has been the driving vehicle of my academic success here at UofL. I came here in the Fall from Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a M.S. in Sport Administration. She approached me about pursuing my PhD here at UofL and saw potential in me which I could not see in myself. She guided me through the PhD process and helped form opportunities for me to become a better professional. She was an inspiration to me from the first day. Despite her academic and professional success, she always treated me on eyesight and made me feel valued and appreciated. She always took her time to talk to me about my academic, as well as, personal standing and ensured I had the support I needed. I now can proudly say that I am graduating top of my class of the master’s program which I finished in one instead of two years and will pursue my PhD here at UofL on a University Fellowship starting this Fall. All thanks to her! -

Dr. Inanc's class was a great experience, thanks entirely to his dedication to his students and his willingness to work with individuals to ensure they get the absolute most out of their time in his class.
Presented an excellent and very informative class covering autonomous mobile robotics this semester at UofL.
Dr. Inanc is an enthusiastic instructor who links strong theory fundamentals to practice with various examples to be solved with different aspects. In our Digital Signal Processing course, Dr. Inanc consistently provided us with a balanced exposure to both theory and practical Matlab examples which help us explore and apply what we learned in class.

Professor Jett has been accommodating for things for me in past semesters as well as this semester, and since transferring here, he is the only professor to personally contact me and demand I do better in terms of showing up on time to class versus overlooking or letting me lose points for it. A small yet powerful gesture for me.
Jett makes lectures easy to follow as well as thoroughly explaining class assignments. Additionally, he's tough on grading but fair which only makes me a better student.

Best human being and absolute favorite teacher.
Truly cares that his students learn and understand class material.
Dr. Kopechek has been the best professor that I have had so far in the Bioengineering Department. He creates an inclusive class environment that allows for an open and effective academic strive for the students. He made himself available for multiple hours during the week for students to visit during his office hours. I remember for a group project we had in the class, he sat with all of our group members for over an hour to make sure we fully understood our mistakes and how to correct them. The classroom environment was also very fun and creative in that it didn't seem like we were doing busy work and just needing to get a grade. He made assignments and tasks very much enjoyable, as well as making them applicable to a real-world setting. Dr. Kopechek is more than deserving of this nomination, and I am confident that any of his previous students would more than agree with me. Please reach out to me as there many other instances and moments were Dr. Kopechek excelled as my professor.

He goes above and beyond to make sure we have the time and resources we need to succeed, whether it's extending a deadline when the whole class is struggling, or allowing us to call him on his cell phone with questions about a project while he's on his way back from the airport. He is our Spiderman and the BE Department wouldn't be the same without him!
Dr. Kopechek is very kind and patient. He was easily approachable and was always willing to help me with subjects and concept applications that I was struggling with. Dr. Kopechek made lectures enjoyable, and class was always relaxed and engaging. We felt comfortable asking questions, and he was always willing to expand upon topics. College of Arts and SciencesDr. Leonard is a wonderful professor here at the University of Louisville. She truly embraces what it means to be a professor. She is always looking out for her students. She is the only teacher I know who gives a lecture when only two students shows up for class because she values their time and appreciates them for coming when nobody else did and wants to make sure they know the material that is required. She always tells funny and relatable stories in class and somehow finds a way to tie them back into the themes we are learning in class. She cares about her students and always starts the class asking how students are doing, and if someone leaves unexpectedly, she makes sure to ask if they are okay. Dr. Leonard makes an effort to try and connect with her class as much as possible. She loves to hear what students have to say and allows for more discussion-based conversations than straight lecture. She is always open for questions, but most of the time she asks even more stimulating questions to drive home the reinforcement of the material. She is a wonderful professor who never disappoints to update her class on her adorable grandkids and the research she does in Ireland. She comes hustling to class every week looking forward to develop the young minds of our generation, and she does so in an effortless manner. She truly loves the interactions with her students and loves to see their progress along the way. For all of this, I nominate Dr. Melinda Leonard for Faculty Favorite. -
Ariana Levinson
Brandeis School of LawIt is with great pleasure to nominate Professor Ariana R. Levinson for the university’s “faculty favorite” award. Professor Levinson is not just my favorite professor, Professor Levinson has become my mentor. I believe Levinson is deserving of this prestigious award because of her life-long commitment and achievements in labor and employment law research and cooperative law research at UofL and across the United States. I also believe she is deserving of this award because of her many contributions to advancing the role of women in the law by active mentorship, by serving as a role model, and by her strong leadership at UofL’s Brandeis School of Law. Professor Levinson is the type of professor who motivates you to succeed in and out of the classroom. Each course that she teaches focuses on the purpose of either Bar Prep, experiential experience, or exposure to the particular law. Professor Levinson has been a significant impact in my legal education, and I know that she would do anything she could to help me academically. Additionally, Professor has already shown that she would make the personal recommendations to a potential employer or for a potential scholarship. I cannot thank Professor Levinson enough for the amount help she has provided me. She deserves this award and so much more. There are numerous personal reasons why Professor Levinson deserves this award, but I will only mention three. First, Professor Levinson has submitted several personal recommendations either by letter or phone on my behalf. These recommendations were for summer employment, networking opportunities, and scholarship funding. In fact, every recommendation that Levinson sent has proven effective. Here, is a list of opportunities that I have been awarded because of Levinson's recommendations: -ABA Arbitration Competition Member -Peggy Browning Fellowship Summer 2018 at IUE-CWA in Dayton, Ohio. -2019 Michael Weiner Major League Baseball Players' Trust $10,000 Scholarship Recipient. -Legal Research Opportunities with Nationally Recognized Experts. -Continuous Labor and Employment Law Networking Opportunities. -2019 Summer Internship at the NLRB in Washington D.C. -2019 Summer Clerkship at Labor Firm in Dayton, Ohio. Second, Levinson has spent hours assisting me academically outside of the classroom, and it has proven significant results in my confidence on exam day. I have improved my GPA each semester, and I truly feel that Levinson's teaching has been the reason why I have grown academically over the past two years. Third, Levinson's mentorship is not just for me. Many of my classmates also share the same amount of mentorship as well. Levinson always seeks to accommodate her students in a variety of way. Whether that be teaching in a variety of ways, extended office hours, or providing additional practice questions, or career advice, Levinson is always willing to help students. Thus, I am confident that Levinson's image and attributes, coupled with her long list of significant accomplishments in her career and academics, are truly representative of a person who has positively impacted UofL’s Brandeis School of Law and her students. Thank you in advance for your consideration to nominate Levinson.
She made learning Evidence easy to understand, even though it's a difficult subject. She takes a genuine interest in her students and what they hope to do in the future, while also trying to establish valuable connections for them to achieve these goals.
She integrates a broad range of teaching methods in the classroom, and in doing so, develops the highest participation rate I can remember without using intimidation. She is also very thoughtful and caring for students as people outside of the classroom. No one represents what a faculty member should be more than her. -

Kossi Logan
Pan-African Studies
College of Arts and SciencesI would like to nomination my advisor, Dr. Logan, for the faculty favorite award. This has been the toughest semester for me, and he pushed me to do my best and persevere. This semester, I completed my comprehensive exams and my dissertation proposal defense. Dr. Logan was patient with me the entire time and provided valuable, timely feedback. I also served as his teaching assistant this semester, and he gave me the opportunity to develop teaching skills throughout the semester. He is a valuable member of the UofL community and the primary reason I have been successful up to this point in pursuit of my Ph.D. -
Susan Longerbeam
Counseling and Human Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Longerbeam truly cares about the growth and success of each student she encounters. She challenges all of the CSP program to think for and learn for ourselves but will kindly guide us in the right direction if we are going off path. Dr. Longerbeam has been encouraging at times when it all seemed like too much. Her presence alone makes us all feel that we are in the right field at the right university. I only hope that I can be half of the professional that she is and that she's encouraging us all to be because even that is more than enough. -
Douglas Lorenz
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
School of Public Health and Information SciencesExcellent instructor who has carefully and meticulously thought through exactly how to present this challenging material to his students. He seems very invested in our success. -
Courtney Lush
REACH--GEN 104
Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student SuccessShe was very helpful and understandable for any situation I had.
I choose Courtney Lush, one of the Math 104 GAs. She is very passionate and loving to each student. I know that whatever she decides to do, she will be great at it. She definitely has a heart for people.
All-time favorite teacher that I have had! Motivated me to get my work done and made me want to come to class! -
Geraldine Mack
Educational Leadership, Evaluation, and Organizational Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Mack is always so responsive when you have a question/concern. She has a thorough understanding of all course content and easily relays it to real-life scenarios for students to better understand. Additionally, she caters the real-life scenarios to those of the career fields of her students for greater interest to be gained. Dr. Mack had to juggle a lot with a blended grad/undergrad course and did so without sacrificing the content of the course for either focus. She is a truly versatile, devoted, and approachable professor for all of her students! -
Hardy Mackenzie
Educational Leadership, Evaluation, and Organizational Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentAlways upbeat and positive with a ton of knowledge. Enjoyed class every time. -
David Maddy
Comprehensive Dentistry
School of DentistryExcellent job as first-time course director for Preclinical Occlusion. I believe he has inspired our class to explore treating occlusal disease throughout our careers.
Dr. Maddy has brought a knowledge and curriculum that is above the standard to our school. He is teaching a subset of modern dentistry that is only being taught in a handful of dental schools nationwide. His level of expertise and motivation to educate is incomparable to most faculty. He's using techniques in lecture, lab, and videos outside of classroom that develop our skills and knowledge at a higher level than all other courses/schools.
Dr. Maddy has been a wonderful professor! He is always prepared, and it shows that he really cares about making sure we know the material. I have witnessed on several occasions Dr. Maddy walking into the classroom early or after classes to make sure students had access to him to review questions or projects. He is available and open to answering questions. I have really enjoyed having Dr. Maddy as a professor, and I believe that he is extremely deserving of this recognition! -

Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringOne of the most active faculty and always helping whoever needs it. -
Ali Mahmoud
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Ali is a good instructor.
Dr. Ali Mahmoud is helpful and patient. He taught us how to use Linux, a program that I had never used before taking this course. He took the time to sit with me and help me not only with the processing, but also getting the software installed and set up. He cared about making sure that I understood the concepts and their applications, and he spent several hours outside his normal office hours helping me. Thank you, Dr. Ali! -
Andrew Manikas
Management
College of BusinessDr. Manikas is the best professor I have had while attending UofL. I work full time so many of the classes that I take are online. His class was straight to the point, and he kept things organized. He is always available for questions. I truly appreciate that he understands some of us have a life outside of the classroom. As a working professional already in my field, professors like Dr. Manikas are the ones who make a difference to adult students like me. I cannot think of another professor more deserving than him. Thank you for having such a wonderful faculty member on staff here. -
Jennifer Mansfield-Jones
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesI chose this professor because I loved the way it was taught, the professor and the course itself. It is the hardest class I’ve taken, but she offered me valuable resources, her time, and I think she genuinely wants me to succeed. Her class will also help me better prepare for tough courses in the future. UofL could not have a better anatomy teacher than Dr. Mansfield-Jones, and I can never thank her enough for being such a good professor. -
Samuel Marcosson
Brandeis School of LawHe is a very open and understanding professor, at the same time as truly knowing and being passionate about his material. He incorporates humor and encourages curiosity making it all the more interesting and easy to learn and recall.
If you were casting the "intimidating law professor" in a movie, Prof. Marcosson would be the perfect fit. Marcosson is the kind of professor with a reputation that precedes him. Before ever stepping foot in his classroom, older students will opine about how he is intimidating and his high expectations. All of this may very well be true of Prof. Marcosson but that is only because of how much he loves his job. This passion for teaching is present every day, and it pushes his students to be better. Prof. Marcosson is respectful, open, kind, and appreciative of his students, but he is also not very easily impressed. Often I hear my fellow students justifying reading for his class at the expense of another because they "don't want to let Prof. Marcosson down." Marcosson is one-in-a-million, and the University of Louisville is lucky to have him. -
Katherine Massoth
History
College of Arts and SciencesAs a graduating senior in a separate major, Dr. Massoth is the best professor I have had the joy of taking here at UofL. She is so passionate about her work and obviously an expert that it makes her lessons have that much more impact. She fosters an environment in the classroom that I have not experienced at either of my colleges. Students actively participate and speak profoundly about the topic at hand. I would recommend all backgrounds of students to take Dr. Massoth. Given more time here at the University, I would have taken more of her classes just for the sheer enjoyment of the class discussions and the passion she shares with her students. -

Justin McFadden

College of Education and Human DevelopmentI want to nominate Justin McFadden because of his passion for science education and his passion for helping students become familiar with the correct way to get kids involved in science. -
William McKinney
Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences
School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. McKinney has had such a tremendous impact on my life in this very short semester. He cares about his job, his students, and his community. He deserves to be recognized for his work at UofL and because of his numerous other achievements in the field of public health.
I had so much fun in Dr. McKinney's class this semester. He made learning public health very easy through his lectures and the many discussions we had. It was very easy to ask questions, and he always knew the answer to every one of them. I would recommend this professor to anyone. -
Keith McKnight
REACH--GEN 103/104
Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student SuccessI learned a lot in Gen 104, and this will help me as I proceed with other math courses.
I had Professor McKnight for GEN 104. He was always willing to put forth that extra teaching time, so I understood the material. He broke things down in ways the software didn’t, which allowed me to understand the parts that the software skipped. He always is very encouraging to his students. A lot of us are not good at math, but he always says keep working at it and you will get it. I think he is the reason why I didn’t give up, and I passed his class.
Always patient and gives of his time.
Super awesome. Genuinely cares about my learning and process and did anything to help me out when I struggled.
He's cool
Instructor McKnight always touched base with every student every class period making sure we were all okay and understanding our assignments. If we weren't okay and/or understanding, he took the time to explain things until we knew what we were doing. -
John McLeod

Laura McNeal
Brandeis School of LawI've never had a professor, especially in law school, who's gone so out of their way to be accommodating. She's by far one of the kindest professors at the law school who cares enough about, not only increasing student interest, but making sure we don't feel like a number.
Professor McNeal is always encouraging, thoughtful, and supportive, both in coursework as well as in career preparation.
Professor McNeal did a great job teaching Public Education and Urban Revitalization. She had obvious zeal for the topic, she was very knowledgeable in the classroom, and she made this class very interesting. The assignments really helped to further our interest in the topic of the class. She was easily accessible and especially helpful in our writing assignment. Great job, Professor McNeal! I would take every class of yours from now on, if they matched up with my schedule. -
Manuel Medina
Classical and Modern Languages
College of Arts and SciencesEs un super profesor. Siempre disponible para ayudar y muy preparado en su profesión.
Dr. Medina taught a class I did not have a lot of background in. Provided the necessary tools to truly understand and analyze films.
Doc. Medina is a terrific educator. The reason is that it is the first time in my international student life that some educator from another country teaches me. My bachelor’s, I did make in the Russian language, and professionally. I am learning to write the Spanish language in the USA. My first teacher at the University of Louisville was Dr. Wagner, and I will never forget when she taught me at the UofL classroom. But in my opinion, all teachers: Dr. Hutcheson, Dr. Wagner, Dr. Edison, Dr. Sullivan, Dr. Nuessel, all teachers are a gorgeous team, but Professor Manuel Medina for me is my favorite.
I think we learned a lot with Dr. Medina. I appreciate all his help.
Dr. Medina is one of the best professors I've ever had. He works to ensure that all of us understand the content and goes above and beyond to help us. Even outside of his office hours, he's always willing to meet with us and help. He even volunteered to come to a study session for the exam in case we had any other questions. On top of his course load, he mentored half of us who are graduating the MA program with our final papers. I've never been challenged academically the way I have in his classes, which has helped immensely with my intellectual growth. If I weren't graduating, I would love to take more courses with him. -
Rebecca Mercke
Oral Health and Rehabilitation
School of DentistryNot only does Dr. Mercke teach the material well, she makes herself available at all times to help with anything we may need. She has moved around the schedule at the class’s request and given us extra time when we were going over particular subjects that were harder to study. She is the biggest "cheerleader" of the dental hygiene class, making sure we know that we are important and not any less than the DMD students. She is also motivational to me on the personal level that she made it through school while raising a family, showing me that I can accomplish that too! Dr. Mercke is firm, expects a lot from us, and yet is completely accommodating and helpful in a way that makes us know.
Dr. Rebecca Mercke cares about her students and their success. -
Melissa Merry
Political Science
College of Arts and SciencesShe's the best.
Dr. Merry is one of the best professors I've had. She encourages debate and critical thinking in class, makes class extremely engaging, has group activities that are extremely relevant and help students retain the material rather than having them as class fillers to break up time. On top of all that, she genuinely cares about her students and their performance and is willing to spend any amount of time with them to make sure they get the grade they put in the effort for. She makes information extremely accessible, and I looked forward to class every day. I genuinely would have been bothered if I had to miss any day of her class. Also, it was a great environment to form friendships in the class. Looking forward to taking her again in the future. -
Larry Michalczyk
Kent School of Social WorkProfessor M. is by far my favorite instructor at UofL so far. He is always available and willing to go the extra mile to help his students. He makes it a priority to get to know us personally and to help us apply our everyday life experiences to the topics we cover in his course. He's an awesome professor!
Professor M! He is very passionate about Social Work Policy and it shows in his lectures and the coursework that he assigns. He really cares about his students, and I feel that he goes over and beyond to make sure that we are all successful. He reaches out to touch base and offers assistance and opportunities for questions often. He does a great job organizing his online class and is always prompt when posting weekly lessons and gives feedback in a timely manner. He will be a tough act to follow. -
Alica Miller
Mathematics
College of Arts and SciencesBrilliant. Always looked forward to coming to calculus class with her as instructor. Never wanted to miss a day. Thanks for the knowledge.
Dr. Miller encouraged us to really embrace the challenge and did a fantastic job sharing her passion for mathematics. She made what seemed like a daunting class actually fun and taught us to never give up. -
Sandra Miller

Rose Mills

College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Mills was definitely my favorite instructor from my whole first year of college. She is very funny, lively, and sarcastic (in a good way). She is very passionate about her work. Every time we have an assignment, she is very willing to discuss different viewpoints with us. She makes class fun; her class is the one that I attend the most. If she can get me to come to class, then she definitely deserves to be a faculty favorite. -

Mr. Moore is awesome! He shows a true passion for UofL and the College of Education and teaching in general. He always makes sure that every student feels welcome and really wants to help them succeed, even if for them that means not pursuing a career in education. He made my first experience in the College of Education a good one and made me sure of my choice to become an educator in the future! -
Carrie Mott
Geography and Geosciences
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor is so full of energy! She made learning fun and interesting! Never a dull moment. She made sure there was a lot of class to material interaction, which I feel helped the class learn a lot! I took so much from this course this semester, and it was definitely Professor Mott who made the difference! -
Laura Moyer
Political Science
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Moyer has been my undergraduate research mentor for the past year. In that time, she has gone above and beyond to support me in my research project--even driving to Frankfort to see the project presented. Dr. Moyer clearly goes the extra mile for her students and it shows. -

School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. Neal worked tirelessly throughout the semester to guarantee that her students were best prepared to succeed in the class. She provided time outside of class (as well as in class) for us to ask questions. She is really knowledgeable about the subject and excited to share her knowledge.
She is the best! She cares so much about her students and is so passionate about what she teaches!
Professor Neal has really fueled my desire to become a public health inspector. Her knowledge base is unparalleled, and it is clear she just wants her students to expand their own knowledge.
Dr. Neal is a wonderful professor who is always willing to help her students in any way possible. She has played a large role in my, and many others', successes as an undergraduate student. -

Nicholaus Noles
Psychological and Brain Sciences
College of Arts and SciencesOne of the best teachers I've ever had.
He is a very good instructor and took the time to fully explain the items discussed in class. He was easy to contact and was overall one of the best instructors I have ever had.
A
I had Dr. Noles for Psyc 205, which was a math and psychology class. Dr. Noles made a math class fun and entertaining and cared for all of his students! He is great and I highly recommend. -
Andrea Olinger
English
College of Arts and SciencesAndrea is one of the most dedicated and generous professors in the English Department. She goes above and beyond what one might expect out of office hours and one-on-one sessions; following each conversation, she sends a follow-up email with further resources and readings to help support our conversations and my work. I am incredibly grateful for Andrea, not just as a professor, but also a strong mentor and role model for me as a future tenure-track professor.
Andrea is one of the best instructors I've ever had. She puts so much time and thought into her teaching and one-on-one feedback. She clearly cares about all of her students and goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone succeeds. -
Ranen Omer-Sherman
Comparative Humanities
College of Arts and SciencesHis lectures are terrific. Bright, articulate, and unique are a few of the adjectives I could use to describe Ranen. He also helps his students move to a higher plane of understanding difficult subject material. Yet, his classes transcend mere lecture, and he encourages students to drive conversation. He is open to new ideas from his students and his writing feedback is most helpful. You can really grow as both a student and thoughtful member of society in his class. I really can’t describe this professor in a short paragraph. His depth of knowledge and beautiful lecture delivery would rival any Ivy League professor. UofL is very lucky to have him as a member of their intellectual community. -
Martin O'Toole
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. O'Toole, to me, is an awesome professor to learn and experience with. His classes are fun, he teaches well, and he has a good sense of humor in what he teaches and talks about. Honestly, I would argue that helps students transfer from the field of engineering into the bioengineering field, showing us the path and ways that really gives us the edge to become the competitive bioengineers of UofL. -
Jennifer Owens
Kent School of Social WorkShe's super engaged in her work and keeps the long class lively. -
Subhadip Pal
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
School of Public Health and Information SciencesHe offered a seven-level Linear Models course in this fall 2018. I liked it very much because he introduced us to the course in a whole new way. Moreover, after he concluded the syllabus, he even taught the latest areas of research and lots of interesting ways of using absolutely basic statistical tools in a whole new way for four classes.
He is super dedicated. Always works for what is best for students. Has practically lifted students who were falling behind in the course by giving them more attention. He made a difficult subject much easier--disciplined and talented. Meet him in the hallway and ask him any question, and he won't hesitate to solve it there. Sometime he gives a glimpse of his research in the class, which helps students to understand what's going on in real life. He has helped students in their personal problems too. I won't be shy in saying that he is a rising star! -
Arsalan Paleshi
Industrial Engineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringProfessor Paleshi is one of the most caring professors I know. He's invested in his students' success.
He's really engaged with his classes and has a really good attitude with students.
His attitude towards teaching and helping students is fantastic. Very kind and understanding. Always showed up to lecture energized and excited to teach.
Paleshi was a great instructor who was able to effectively teach concepts in a friendly and passionate way.
Every day he was friendly and had a warm atmosphere. When students had questions, he always followed up to make sure they now understood. He really cares about his students and it showed.
Great professor. Really cares about his students.
He's very energetic and kind. He cares about all of his students and that is evident in every single class.
A
Dr. Paleshi has provided me with yet another satisfying, instructive course. He deserves my vote.
Dr. Paleshi is, with no doubt, the best professor I've ever had. He truly cares about each student and not just about getting through the material. If every professor was like him, the University of Louisville would be a MUCH better place. -
Lori Paris

She makes it easy for students to approach her and truly wants every student to reach their full potential. Lori is truly an inspiration. Lori's love for the field of social work is visible in her teaching. Again, she values the opinions and the voice of every student and fans the fire of love, compassion, and empathy with her words and deeds. She is a remarkable teacher and extremely down-to-earth and approachable. She is awesome, and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be in her class. #iamafan -
Sam Park
Mechanical Engineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Park is always willing to help, even when he is away. He is also willing to do anything to help students succeed, including aiding his students through his old exams (requiring him to create radically new problems each year), or meeting with them at times outside his scheduled office hours. -
Elizabeth Patton
Middle and Secondary Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Patton amazingly makes such an advanced academic content reachable, intriguing, understandable, and fun. As a passionate student about TESOL, I found every time of class as a learning opportunity. She has taught me a lot, made a difference in my career path and I believe that I owe her a significant deal of academic improvement and learning. She always motivates students, believes in them, offers them whatever means necessary for their success, guides and leads towards the highest performance possible by her students. -
Scott Patton
Special Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentProfessor Patton is the best professor I have had here at UofL. His enthusiasm for learning and his drive to form a personal relationship with each and every one of his students is admirable. He encouraged me this semester and goes above and beyond to make sure every student is successful. He is a great example of what every teacher should be and has inspired me to be the exact same way in my future career endeavors. He taught me so much this semester, and I will always think back to his class.
Patton is a brilliant storyteller and always amazes me with how he can go on forever telling a story and also manage to connect his and our real-life experiences with the content of the class. Each week I look forward to taking his class and hearing what he has to say. He gives us great advice on how to work with students and is so encouraging and loving, I cannot wait to take another class with him!
Simply put, Mr. Patton is one of the best instructors on the University of Louisville campus. Mr. Patton is an inspiration to me and many other future teachers. Mr. Patton has also made me realize the potential that I have to make a positive impact in the field of education. Mr. Patton, thank you for all that you do. I am looking forward to the next time that I get to be your student! (If any students are seeing this and you have a chance to take one of Mr. Patton's courses, DO NOT PASS IT UP.)
Always there to listen, great professor and genuinely cares about every one of his students inside and outside of the classroom.
Professor Patton has a huge passion for pouring into future teachers and it shows in his classes. I learned so much and felt so encouraged and appreciated in his classroom. -
Michael Perlin
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesSuch a great professor!
Dr. Perlin and TA, Roxanne Leiter, are my favorites this semester. They both made Genetics class and lab so easy, respectively. He's such an organized person and his notes are "Genetics made easier." -
Armon Perry
Kent School of Social WorkEnsures you understand info he puts out as well as goes the extra mile to help with anything you ask. -
Susan Peters
Middle and Secondary Education
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Peters has played a significant role in my growth over this past year. As my capstone professor for our class of just four students, she took the time to really get to know each of us and allowed us to share our experiences from student teaching. She listened to our interests and catered the class to what we felt like we needed to work on most to become better teachers. She brought in speakers from different areas of the teaching field, had a panel of first-year teachers, and showed us lots of activities and ways to include technology in the math classroom. This spring semester, Dr. Peters agreed to work with me on an independent study about statistics. When we met to discuss the work I had been doing, she always did a great job explaining the concepts that I didn’t quite understand and gave me suggestions for ways that I could incorporate statistics into my future teaching. I gained a lot from this study and feel more confident going forward as a math teacher now because of Dr. Peters’ help. I also appreciate the encouragement she has given me along the way. She has always believed in my peers and me and offered to be a resource or fill out recommendations which is extremely helpful. I can’t thank her enough! -
Selene Phillips
Communication
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Phillips has been the biggest help for me this spring semester. She has dedicated time outside of class to help me get my works published and worked with me to apply for scholarships. She also sent out emails notifying me of internships and opportunities in my future career field. Dr. Phillips cares about all of her students and is willing to do this for her other students as well. She really makes UofL a better place to learn. -
Dan Popa
Electrical and Computer Engineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringI enjoyed Dr. Popa's labview class a lot this semester. He is an excellent teacher. -
Cedric Powell
Brandeis School of LawProfessor Powell offers a wonderful learning environment. Not only are we pushed to think critically and participate in class, we are also viewed as a human. Being a simple human and not a law student at all phases of this journey is very important. Thank you, Professor Powell, for everything you have done for us! -
Glen Prater
Mechanical Engineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Prater is just an amazing professor who deeply cares about his students and is always looking out for them. He truly cares about his students' learning machine design, and if there are any questions, he doesn't mind answering the questions until the student understands. He deserves this award. -

Shesh Rai
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. Rai is my Ph.D. advisor. He is extremely helpful, patient, encouraging, and always looking into the betterment of students. He believes in making his students as independent researchers, with minimal guidance when required, trying to bring the best out of each student. Also, creating a welcoming environment for new ideas, accommodating students’ needs and requests by opening horizons of opportunities. Hoping to continue discussing my thesis work and getting valuable insights as always. All these sums up why I chose him as my advisor and will continue voting as faculty favorite.
Dr. Rai is the best professor I've ever met here at UofL. He is always available to help when I have a question or a problem to ask. He also keeps track of everyone's progress, both in class and outside of class, and makes sure everyone is on the right track. Dr. Rai also provides great opportunity for students to have hands-on experience to work with other departments. Besides that, Dr. Rai is also a friend of everyone. He can be approached very easily. I always had great communication with him. We talk about everything, from sports to movie, from academic to culture. Overall, I believe that Dr. Rai is a great professor. -

Liza Reader
Health and Sport Sciences
College of Education and Human DevelopmentProfessor Reader's classes, lectures, and skill sessions are invaluable. I've never felt so well equipped to take the knowledge provided in a class and apply it to everyday situations in my career field. Invaluable teaching.
She is one of the only professors I've had at the University of Louisville that I truly felt like I learned something from. She is so passionate about exercise science and teaching.
Professor Reader has been one of my favorite professors at UofL. She has a large knowledge of the information she teaches and explains it in a way that makes it easier to learn. Her class is very hands on which enhances the learning even more. The labs let me experience what I would be doing one day as a strength and conditioning coach. Professor Reader ignited a passion in me for strength and conditioning that I never knew I had until I took her class.
She is an amazing teacher.
Liza is a great professor who I have learned so much from. She is so knowledgeable about everything she teaches and passionate as well.
Professor Reader is an incredible teacher. She is honestly one of the smartest people I have ever met. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and makes sure that her students understand the material. She is a challenging teacher, but that's how she gets us to understand the material taught in class. Apart from being an amazing teacher, she is a truly wonderful person. She is very approachable and understanding of her students. She allowed me to take my exam at a different time than was scheduled so I could go see my sick grandpa. She was so supportive and sentimental to my family, and I could not thank her enough for that. She genuinely cares about her students and their well-being, as well as their education. I am a senior, and she is my favorite teacher that I have had all throughout my four years here. I don't think there is anyone more deserving of this than her. -

College of BusinessA lot of times in college, I feel as though I am just a number in the classroom and that professors do not care about their teachings. Professor Reinhardt cares about knowing his students and making sure they are updated with the latest technology and are truly understanding the information he presents. I feel he is one of the best professors I have had at the University.
Great professor really and is always willing to give advice on everything he teaches. He is so polite with all the students. He makes all of us feel comfortable and confident in his class. -

Tommy Roussel
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Thomas Roussel, or drT as students call him, is a great professor. I have taken 5 courses with drT, and he was also my mentor for my master’s non-thesis project. For a long time I have wanted to learn about and understand circuits, electricity, etc. This is an area in which I have struggled a lot. When I was enrolled in his Circuits course, drT stayed after class to help me at least once a week, sometimes all three days. drT has always been patient despite my difficulty in grasping and applying the concepts and principles in his class and in his lab course. He explained and demonstrated things as many times as I needed and in different ways until I understood. drT’s patience must be limitless. drT taught both of the bioinstrumentation lab courses that I took. I learned more about circuits and devices because he was approachable and patient. This is an area in which he is passionate, and he was always happy to not only help with course projects, but also took these opportunities to teach us even more. He also purchased printed circuit boards and components to give us the opportunity to design and populate PCBs for a fun project. I was enrolled in drT’s LabVIEW course this semester, and I learned so much about LabVIEW that I am going to be able to take the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer exam. Being qualified to obtain this certification was one of his goals for our class. He covered concepts and program capabilities that went beyond the content of the textbook. What he taught me has given me valuable skills that will benefit me throughout my career. The certification will be helpful in acquiring an entry level position within my field. I am glad that I took this course with drT. This past summer, I approached drT and asked if he would be willing to mentor me and if he had a project related to circuits that would help me get hands-on experience. drT found a great master’s project through which I gained skills in more areas (e.g., data acquisition). I am very grateful to him for the invaluable experience in product development. Because drT is patient and approachable, I have learned more in these courses. While most questions take just a few minutes, it also sometimes takes an hour or two to help with an assignment (e.g., fixing and setting up my LabVIEW project, understanding an electrical circuit function and operation, etc.). drT’s commitment to students is indefatigable. He comes in early when we need help, and he is often helping students (including me) until 7:00 and 8:00 in the evenings. He has always been supportive, helpful, patient, and kind. It is clear that he genuinely cares about students and that he enjoys teaching. drT has made a positive impact on my education and my future career. I am very lucky to have had him as a professor and a mentor. Thank you, drT!
During Dr. Roussel's class, we had the opportunity to think for further applications beyond the class scope (PCB fabrication, customize your design, get your stuff from china, startup company ideas, … etc.) also he has a great teaching methodology…
Dr. T is one of the most passionate professors in the Bioengineering Department. His willingness to provide students positive feedback, along with his ability to relate to his students, is hard to find. Dr. T was one of the faculty members on my thesis committee this year, and without his support and continued dedication, I wouldn't be graduating or attending medical school this year. -
Brent Rummage
REACH--GEN 103/104
Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student SuccessThe entire REACH staff is impressive, but Mr. Rummage was able to encourage and instruct in such a way as to make a most difficult course palatable. His teaching illustrations are the ones that truly made sense and stuck with me. Mr. Rummage is tops in professionalism, and he has an ability to explain math concepts in ways that make them easy to remember and apply.
Mr. Rummage is one of the nicest and most caring people I’ve ever met. He was helpful when I had questions, and he was ready to pep me back up when I was feeling down and like I couldn’t do it. He was so incredibly supportive and beyond nice. I’d say he was my first friend on campus. :) -

College of Arts and SciencesDr. Salmon is a very knowledgeable, wise, patient, available, and kind professor. He is always willing to meet with students and is really generous in sharing his knowledge with us. He consistently checks in on how we are handling the course and guides us in mastering the material. He seems to understand that learning is a process, rather than a destination. He also does a good job of fostering a sense of intrinsic motivation for learning in his students. Overall, he comes across as a compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable professor, and I am grateful to have learned from him. -
Lorna Segall
Academic and Professional Studies
School of MusicDr. Segall is absolutely incredible! She has enhanced our program greatly and is so willing to help her students. She is an asset to our program and has opened students' eyes to the many opportunities in our field. I am proud to have her as not only a professor but the head of the program.
Dr. Segall brought a breath of fresh air to the music therapy program. She has inspired me with her passion for music therapy and her dedication to making her students the best people they can possibly be. She always has a smile on her face and a kind word for anyone, and she challenges her students to think deeper about our studies in order to make more connections.
Dr. Segall is at UofL for her first semester. She took this opportunity and ran with it. I have never met a more energetic, kind person who has such a love for what they are doing. Dr. Segall pushes me and all my classmates to be our best. She is so approachable and helpful. I always feel like I can talk to her about absolutely anything. Her kind and passionate ways are rubbing off on the whole department of music therapy, and we are beyond lucky to have her join us this year.
Dr. Segall is an incredible teacher who comes into class every day excited to see us and to help us learn. She is brand new to UofL this year, but she has already made such a massive impact on my learning. She genuinely cares about each student and wants all of us to be successful. She begins each class asking for “good news” from the group, and then she teaches with vibrancy, digestible language, and compassion. She helps us to make valuable connections between concepts, and she always tells us that “everything relates to everything,” which I have begun to notice everywhere in my life! I look forward to going to her classes each week, and I am excited to take her classes throughout the rest of my college career.
This is Dr. Segall’s first semester at UofL in the Music Therapy Department. She has made a personal connection with each student from the beginning while remaining professional in the classroom. She goes above and beyond to make sure each student is on the right track and understands the content and is not limited to one teaching style, as she wants all of her students to succeed. The relationships she has built ensures that we are all comfortable and no questions are ever “dumb.” She is truly a role model and inspiration. I think I can speak for the entire Music Therapy Department that she belongs here, and we love her tremendously!!!!
Dr. Segall is an incredible professor. She is inspiring, positive and honest which makes it so easy to learn from her. She believes in her students while also having high expectations of academic excellence. Her knowledge and experience are invaluable to the School of Music at UofL! -
Michael Sekula
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
School of Public Health and Information SciencesIn my four years at UofL, Mike has been one of my best instructors. He takes the time to ensure each student is understanding the material.
Michael Sekula is an excellent professor because he deeply cares about the education of each one of the students in his classes. He takes time out of class to help students and tries to tailor course structures to best meet the learning styles and needs of his students.
Hearing the name Biostatistics, I was intimidated. I didn't know what to expect with the course. Professor Sekula made worry go away. From his teaching to his open door policy, he made sure that we as students fully understood each topic that was covered. He has also been extremely understanding. My grandfather passed away, and I was not able to attend class one morning. After emailing him, he made sure to make himself available to go over the material that I missed. Even in class, if there is something I don't understand when doing problems, he always makes sure to walk me through a problem step by step and never rushes helping a student. He is very willing to help students and that is what I liked about having him this semester. I have never met a teacher that has made me enjoy learning and coming to class as much as he has. Even as I've talked to other students, there have been no complaints, because he has been an amazing teacher in every aspect. I would love to nominate him as "Faculty Favorite" because of his unwavering commitment to his students. Without him, I'm not sure where we would be as students and as people. I think I can speak for the entire class and say that we truly appreciate the time and effort he has put into us, and we will definitely miss him when he graduates. We wish you the best, Professor Sekula!! -

Dr. Ahmed Shalaby has always been friendly and helpful. He taught the concepts and material in a way that made it easy to understand and apply. He made sure that we felt comfortable asking questions whenever we didn’t understand something. It is clear that he cares about teaching and that he wants us to be able to apply and use in our careers what we’ve learned. Thank you, Dr. Shalaby!
Whenever we need some advice, comments, or any kind of help, we know we'll find him! Very supportive and helpful even without asking.
Dr. Shalaby was the teaching assistant of two courses this semester. He is very supportive and inspiring for his great attitude.
He provided all the resources to the class in order for us to succeed. He was always available when we needed him to teach us a concept from class. The class in itself is a difficult one, but he taught the class as well as anybody could have. -

Megan Shreffler
Health and Sport Sciences
College of Education and Human DevelopmentShe encouraged me to be more part of a class that didn't want to take part in certain discussions, and since I didn't want to raise hell, I didn't participate, and I'm sorry about that!
She is an exceptional teacher who makes each individual feel as though she is talking directly to them.
Dr. Shreffler has positively impacted my life in a number of ways. As a professor, I enjoyed her class, but as an advisor and mentor, she has made my time in Louisville truly special. I am proud to be an advisee and student of Dr. Shreffler’s and look forward to calling her my friend post-graduation.
She has been there with open arms and an open door, whenever I had a question regarding class, personal life, or wanting to have a casual conversation. Dr. Shreffler never turns me away and is accepting of all comments and questions I ever had.
Professor Shreffler was the best professor I have had in my college career. She made class enjoyable while also getting a lot done. I feel as if I have learned a lot since being in her classroom, and I have enjoyed every day of it. She is a great professor, and I would recommend others to take her class.
Shreffler makes class very enjoyable and the content we learn very interesting.
Dr. Shreffler is the best professor I have had at UofL. She is very engaged in class material and loves what she does! She makes class a lot more fun and had me looking forward to going to class. I will definitely be taking her in any future SPAD class that she is teaching.
As a sport administration minor, I haven't had the opportunity to work with very many SPAD professors. However, Professor Shreffler has been my favorite professor thus far in the SPAD program and has been one of my favorite professors throughout my entire college career. She is extremely knowledgeable about sport and offers real-world experience to connect with the students. She is a professor who truly sets her students up for success.
Dr. Shreffler has been absolutely amazing this semester. As a student who seeks to pursue her PhD and publish research, Dr. Shreffler has assisted me with this process. She has been a helping hand with my Sports Analytics research project and has helped me understand the steps I need to succeed, not only in her class, but within my future career in sports administration. She also genuinely cares about her students' well-being, career ambitions, and success. She puts herself out there for students who need her and enjoys interacting and getting to know her students on a personal and professional level. She is a wonderful faculty member and a pure light in the Sports Administration Program. -

For Rachel, failure is never an end result--rather, it is "Let's try again and I will help you!" Not only is she remarkably talented, she is a compassionate teacher with a positive word if you are having a tough day. There are always students working a print any time of the day or you will find a group collaborating at the lab tables during the lunch hour--a testament to the thriving academic environment Rachel Singel has cultivated for her students. -
Allison Smith
Biology
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Smith made every lecture interesting and completely changed the way I see things in the world every day. I can’t stop talking to people about the things I learned in her class. The way she taught us and what she taught us actually changed my career path to something similar to what she does in Louisville, and it is something I never would have expected but am eager to keep learning about and work with. -
Lisa Smith
Kent School of Social WorkI am one semester away from completing my MSSW fully online. Lisa has set herself apart from other professors by providing a presence and relationship online better than many of those I've experienced directly in the classroom. She possesses a passion for teaching and a magnetic personality, both of which have the ability to penetrate hundreds to thousands of miles of digital walls separating her from her students. Her lessons have been choreographed in a genuinely welcoming and helpful manner. Further, her ability to stand out above the dark cloud that hovers over my desire to take advanced research classes is commendable.
Lisa has made such a difficult undertaking like research seem manageable and possible. She gives wonderful feedback to let her students know where they might be struggling and is honest and sincere in her approach. She wants her students to be better practitioners and that shows in her teaching methods. -
Kate Snyder
Counseling and Human Development
College of Education and Human DevelopmentDr. Snyder is dedicated to teaching and truly cares about her students’ learning. Class readings are interesting and always spark thought-provoking discussion. She does a great job of connecting class topics to real-world examples that will help us in our future practice. She is an excellent professor who I would take again and again if I could!
She is amazing and dedicated to helping and teaching individuals! Wish I could have her for more of my classes.
Dr. Snyder is a wonderful professor who truly cares about her students. She encourages questions, conversations, respect, and most importantly--laughter.
Dr. Snyder has changed the way I look at theories and the way I have looked at the field of psychology. She is an incredible mentor and has taught me an immense amount about doing theory-based research and getting it published. She pushes her students to think deeper and to not take anything at face value. Approaching theories with a healthy dose of skepticism, coupled with an openness to new perspectives, helps to advance psychological research, and I never realized how important that was until I had class with her.
Dr. Snyder makes learning fun, and she invests so much into her preparation and teaching. She enables students to have access to and have opportunities to discuss the most current research. She also is understanding and kind, willing to work with students if anything comes up and they cannot attend class. She uses a variety of learning techniques and truly values the learning experience and opinions of her students. -
Ahmed Soliman
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringDr. Ahmed is one of the most compassionate doctors in the Bioengineering Department. He has such a passion for machine learning and medical imaging that bleeds over into his teaching. He always seems to take the dry topic that is medical imaging and make it interesting. He always is willing to do what it takes to ensure that every student has an understanding of what we are going over.
Dr. Soliman is a good instructor.
He is really good
I have been deeply influenced by Dr. Soliman as an instructor. His attitude towards students is excellent. His major aim is to make the student fully understand the materials and be capable of starting their own research. His door is always open for any type of question, either in the materials or even in any research problem that students may face. Soliman is always willing to give, share, and appreciate, and this has made him one of the most "loved" persons within the department and students as well. Dr. Soliman’s attitude is that everyone, pulling together, can make the University of Louisville a better place to work, a better place for research, and a better place for students to get a true education. He also has a very effective way of educating, and I fully recommend him for the faculty award.
He is the best
Dr. Soliman possesses great characteristics as an effective educator. I wish to show my personal enthusiastic support to Dr. Soliman in his pursuit of this award. I am confident that he will continue to make outstanding progress and to aid even more students in the future. He is a great instructor.

His lectures are always clear presentations of state-of-the-art material, such as the demonstrations of his most recent research advances.
Not only an amazing person, an amazing professor! He is an amazing teacher who truly cares about his students and challenges us to become not only better engineers but better individuals.
Professor Soliman is so fun and enthusiastic! He enjoys the material he teaches and provides several outlets of understanding.
Thank you, Dr. Soliman
Dr. Ahmed Soliman does an amazing job of creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for students to take part in discussions and activities. I look forward to coming to his class every day because his passion is infectious. I have learned so much in this class over the course of the semester, and it's in an area that I've had no previous exposure to. I would highly recommend him as a professor to any student! Dr. Soliman made sure that we felt comfortable approaching him with questions and for help. He took the time to help me when I was struggling with understanding concepts and how to use the software to perform image analysis. He was patient and made sure that I understood the material and how to use the software program. He even took the time outside his office hours to help me. It is clear that he cares about students. Thank you, Dr. Soliman!
Great Professor! He made me realize that there is always another way to look at any issue. I developed a great sense of critical thinking in his class. I am holding onto his advice that "Criticism is helpful." I live for Dr. Ahmed :)
Thank you
He is the best
Dr. Soliman was able to teach me a lot about machine learning in medical domain this semester. He was always willing to help no matter the problem, whether it was outside of class or in it. He is really a great teacher and very understanding with a lot of patience. Makes us work hard but encourages and helps us understand concepts and principles. Thank you, Dr. Soliman!

Great teacher in a great school
Dr. Ahmed is really great and an amazing instructor. He has so much knowledge, yet presents the material in an interesting and understandable way. We are lucky to have him at UofL!
Dr. Soliman is really a big brother not just a talented educator.
AWESOME!! I love this guy. He's non-threatening, fair, but firm. I learned a lot from him, and he was always thorough and gave perfect responses to inquiries in class.
Fantastic instructor. His class was made interesting by his personality and lectures.
He is such a great teacher!

Kevin Soucy
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringI struggled a lot in this course (Biosystems Controls). Professor Soucy always took the time to help me understand concepts and how to apply them. He often stayed after class and several times made a point of being sure that he was on Belknap Campus to be available (for office hours and other times, such as before exams, even cutting short a personal obligation to be on campus) if I needed help, which I often did. His help made a tremendous difference in my learning the concepts, their application, and in doing well in the course. It meant a lot to me that he cared about me and that I learned and succeeded! Thank you, Professor Soucy! -
Patricia Soucy
Bioengineering
J.B. Speed School of EngineeringShe has been a great professor, always caring about her students' success and helping in any way possible. Lectures are informative and well put together. She has also helped me a lot outside of the classroom with my professional development.
Dr. Soucy is an amazing professor. She cares deeply for her students and wants them all to succeed. She is knowledgeable in her field and wants to excite her students to enjoy bioengineering. As her student, I was pushed to further my education as well as raise the bar for myself. My love for bioengineering grew in her class after learning about how the classes I am taking apply to my future.
Dr. Soucy has always taken the time to help me, even when I drop by her office outside her scheduled office hours. The subject of physiology is vast, and I appreciate that she selected critical, interrelated organs and organ functions (e.g., kidneys, heart, and lungs) to cover in this course so that we have a foundation upon which to build and learn more throughout our careers. Including presentations and reports on topics that interest us was helpful in relating what we’d learned to specific diseases and conditions as well as giving us an opportunity to gain more experience in technical writing. I value her instruction and feedback in these areas, as well. I have learned a lot from Dr. Soucy. She has even taken the time to talk to me about my course choices, resume, and career path. I very much appreciate her kindness and her help, and that she cares about me and helping me begin a successful career. Thank you, Dr. Soucy!
It's easy to see how Dr. Soucy genuinely cares not only about what she's teaching, but also her students! It's refreshing to have a professor who enjoys what they're doing, and you see that passion come through during lecture.
I received much help from her after being in her new position. It's great feeling you, as a student, have someone who supports you. -

Heather Storer
Kent School of Social WorkDr. Storer has been wonderful this semester. I dreaded taking a research class after a bad experience in my undergraduate program, but she has been wonderful, helpful, and responsive. Dr. Storer turned my attitude around when it came to research practice, and I don’t know that I would have survived the class without her. -
Angela Storey
Anthropology
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Storey is a phenomenal human, professor, advocate, researcher, and community member. She dedicates her all to her students and research, and it is so critical to the well-being of our community. The way she teaches emphasizes the importance and critical nature of diversity and inclusion. She even made a peer educators program and a student leadership program within the department to foster leadership and to integrate us and others into the college community. She is an amazing asset to the University of Louisville and deserves so much more praise than she gets. She even came out to the University on a Saturday morning to talk about community building at a student-led sustainability retreat just because a student asked for her help. She is an impeccable person too. She's so personable, easy to talk to, and a true ally. I feel as though she takes an interest in the well-being of all of her students and really puts her heart into her work. Dr. Storey is so compassionate and will always have had a lasting impact on my life and career. I don't know what kind of student or leader I would have been without her influence.
Dr. Storey has made learning fun for her 201 class. She has also gone above and beyond to assist her students who might have barriers when it comes to understanding the material.
Dr. Storey is just the best all around. She has such a passion for anthropology and introduced me to a new way of thinking about the world around me. She wants her students to succeed in and outside of the classroom. -
Kaila Story

She also made sure each student was prepared to public speak, giving us tips and tricks that would help us succeed and grow in our field. -
Kira Taylor
Epidemiology and Population Health
School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. Taylor is the best instructor that I've had during my graduate career. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that students thoroughly learn the course materials. Dr. Taylor also provides students with a variety of assignments to assess their understanding of the course materials. Doing so certainly leads to more grading on Dr. Taylor's part, but gives both the students and Dr. Taylor the opportunity to close learning gaps early on. She is passionate about teaching and constantly reassesses her teaching style to improve her courses. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to have Dr. Taylor as an instructor.
Dr. Taylor is an exceptional professor. She went above and beyond to ensure that her students are successful academically, professionally and personally. Dr. Taylor has provided me opportunities that I never imagined would be available to me. Most importantly, she pushes her students to their full potential.
Dr. Taylor has been absolutely essential in my graduate career in Epidemiology. This semester was her first semester teaching Advanced Epi Methods, which is one of our most advanced courses. Upon completion of this course, I can definitively say that I have learned more from Dr. Taylor’s class than I have in any other class. After a couple days of class, and hearing how much we had already learned, three students who had already taken the class (by a different instructor) decided to sit in on the class. They too have expressed how beneficial the class has been and how much Dr. Taylor has helped them further understand some difficult concepts. Dr. Taylor makes learning advanced methods as simple as possible, without sacrificing important background and theory. She checks in with us regularly throughout the course to make sure we are grasping each concept, and she never fails to fully explain any question someone has, no matter how much class time it may take. It has been the general consensus among those who took her class that it has been the most beneficial class. Many of the students in the department speak highly of Dr. Taylor, and we always express how thankful we are that she is part of our learning experience. No one is more deserving of this award than Kira Taylor; the entire student population of Epidemiology and Population Health would no doubt agree. -

My instructor influenced me in such a positive way this semester. Not only did she unknowingly nominate me for an award that I got for my service to the university, she also is helping to advise me through the next step in my education. She has been someone I can confide in, as well as someone I admire and look up to. She would be more than deserving of this award! -

Christopher Tillquist
Anthropology
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Tillquist is so great. He has made every effort possible to make a broad, challenging course, Biological Anthropology, easy to access and digest. I have enjoyed being in class every day, and even look forward to it. He has a great sense of humor and keeps on track, but what I think makes him stand out so much is how much it’s obvious that he cares about the students. He makes a conscious effort to involve everyone in the classroom (to the extent that they will allow it) and encourages difficult questions, then has us come up with answers. Discussions are frequent in that regard, and have helped to both normalize the scientific process for many students in the class, and also bring relevance to the topic at hand, allowing for application of the material we learn through critical thinking. He also goes out of his way to make sure that the students understand: just a few weeks ago he spent multiple hours creating an entire online exercise on Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium, simply because a few students had expressed their trouble with the concept. He understands students’ needs and concerns and adapts to them as needed. I am legitimately disappointed that he’ll be going on sabbatical. He’s been so influential as an educator to me that I’ve actually started to consider majoring in anthropology--he just brings a certain energy and excitement that make you ready to learn. Needless to say, it’s been the best class I’ve taken. I respect him as a scientist, professor, and person, as he shows to not only be razor sharp, but conscious of how the things he says might affect others or their feelings. I hope I’ll be able to take another class with him in the future. -

Classical and Modern Languages
College of Arts and SciencesProfessor Tower is one of the most caring instructors that I have ever met. She genuinely cares about her students and always takes an interest in her students' educational and extracurricular goals. Professor Tower makes learning German very fun, engaging, and rewarding. She takes great care to explain the grammar and language in a clear way. While learning the language is the primary purpose of the course, Professor Tower constantly blends in cultural lessons that put the course content in context and provides her students with a richer understanding of the German world. -
Rodica Turcu
Pediatrics--Neonatal Medicine
School of MedicineI feel truly blessed to have had Dr. Turcu teach me embryology this past semester. I was able to gain a new appreciation for body development, and the patient panels were an excellent way to solidify what we've learned in class. Her patient's willingness to participate in these panels and their continued praise of Dr. Turcu is evidence of how remarkable she is as a physician. My classmates and I all aspire to become physicians of her caliber, and we will miss her dearly.
Dr. Rodica Turcu has been an incredible teacher this semester. She has always made sure that every student understands the material she presents by being available to answer questions and being reachable at all times. She is not only an amazing professor, but also a great human being. It was easy to make a connection with her as she is always sharing her stories with students! -

Lisa Wagner
Classical and Modern Languages
College of Arts and SciencesI could not say enough nice things about Dr. Wagner. She is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. She teaches valuable skills and instills them through effective practice.
Every time we have class, she makes it fun for us to be there. She is very knowledgeable about the Spanish language and allows us to grow through many speaking activities. Not only is she an amazing professor, but she walks in every day with a smile and really cares about her students. One of my favorite professors here by far. -
Anne Wallis
Epidemiology and Population Health
School of Public Health and Information SciencesDr. Wallis consistently goes out of her way to ensure the learning of her students. Not only is she always available if you have questions about classwork, she also is always willing to help with things outside of the classroom. As the first cohort of Global Health students in the MPH program at UofL, Dr. Wallis has helped all of us secure highly valuable internships through her connections. We went to Washington, D.C., Nigeria, Croatia, and California. Each internship specifically designed for the individual student's interest. She also is helping with making connections in the working world and education world for us post-graduation. Dr. Wallis is an example of a teacher who loves what she does and truly cares for the outcome of her students. She goes above and beyond to push her students to be their best while supporting them the entire time. -

It is absolutely a gift to have worked with her.
Great at pushing students to achieve...QUICKLY!
Monica taught an undergraduate class for the first time in 12 years this year and did an amazing job. In health equity, we went over some fairly controversial topics, and Monica made it such a profound experience. I hope she continues to teach undergrad because I would definitely like to take a class with her again. -

Such a great professor. So willing to work with students. Always there to help and wants to see the class succeed. -
Jeneen Wiche
Anthropology
College of Arts and SciencesWhile enrolled in Professor Wiche's American Indian Women course, I gained knowledge far beyond surface level. Professor Wiche put forth effort through the entirety of the semester toward making sure we left the class more educated and aware than when we arrived and more capable of sharing our knowledge and confident in our attempts to make the world a better place. Aside for content, Professor Wiche would arrive early to the classroom and check up on each one of us. This ranged from a simple, "Good afternoon, how has your day been?" to "How is everything going with that class you were struggling with?" or a genuine desire to make sure we, as students, were able to perform to the best of our abilities and were doing well in our lives in general. This was extremely important for me and many others in the course. We are at a very crucial point in our lives, and while it is such a privilege to be here, it is also a very stressful and taxing experience. Professor Wiche knew this and truly cared for us. I believe beyond being a remarkable professor, the sincerity in which Professor Wiche cares for her students is something that is extremely admirable and helpful. -
Christine Wieseler
Philosophy
College of Arts and SciencesDr. Wieseler should win this because she was devoted to teach us information that is valuable beyond the classroom. We did not simply learn information to pass a test, but she gave us valuable knowledge to use in the real world. A simple skill that somehow many professors lack. She cared about our class and was very dedicated to getting the most positive outcome for all of us.
Dr. Wieseler is by far one of the best professors I've had so far.
She is always easy to get ahold of and has taught me so much. This was the first philosophy course I had ever taken, and I will probably take another because of her.
She was extraordinary. You can see the passion she has not only for her subject but also for the students that she is teaching. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Wieseler; she is a treasure to our University.
Professor Wieseler was extremely helpful this semester. I met with her outside of class after an exam I was sure I failed, but she reassured me that although I didn’t do great, I didn’t fail. She encouraged me to stay in the class after thinking about dropping it and assured me I would be fine if I participated more in class and did much better on the next exam. I took her advice and passed with an A on the second exam and pulled out a B+ overall in the class.
Professor Wieseler's class had a wonderful impact on me. I learned so much material in the field of ethics that I would not have known about had I not taken this class. My philosophical views have grown through this course and the guidance of Professor Wieseler. Additionally, I always felt more than prepared for exams, and it showed! I got consistent As in this class and although I did study, I know that Dr. Wieseler's teaching style contributed greatly to this accomplishment.
Honestly, my favorite class so far in my college experience. She's incredibly intelligent and an amazing teacher. Would take her class a million times over. -
Chelsea Wightman
Metropolitan College
Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student SuccessThe reason that I am nominating Chelsea is that of her outstanding work ethic and ability to make class fun has stood out from all of my other professors. I know the orientation class isn't like a typical class, but she was always smiling and saying hello to every student. I had a hard time when I worked at UPS, and she could see that. She pulled me into her office to review an assignment and immediately asked me about how I was doing mentally since college had started. We didn't even work on the assignment because she wanted to make sure that I was okay. Coming from a family impacted by suicide, I think that all instructors should watch out for their students in the way Chelsea did. I am strong and can handle myself, but many students cannot handle the stress that college brings to the table. I just wanted to commend Chelsea on her bright smile and ability to make my first semester 100 times better. Thank you for your time. -

Imelda Wright
School of NursingImelda Wright was a warm and welcoming face to the upper division of nursing who often soothed nerves and gave re-assurance in a hectic and stressful time. Her teaching style embodied that of nursing itself, difficult and factual health science content met with a great amount of compassion. She provided a safe learning environment that enabled us to apply the content to relevant life experience. Med-surg or management of care course is a large amount of content all supported and driven by evidence-based knowledge that she conveyed as if it were easy. Her teaching materials were incredibly organized then taught with precision and clarity. I have learned a great deal from the course material, yet a great amount was learned from Ms. Wright how to be an excellent nurse. I was lucky to have her as a professor this semester. -

Qi Zheng
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
School of Public Health and Information SciencesThis semester, I have been extremely fortunate to have Dr. Zheng as my professor. All materials (lecture notes, codes, and videos) are organized and easy to navigate. He is very articulate and able to explain subject matter clearly and in different ways so that I may understand. Because of him, I have been able to grasp content that I don't think I would have otherwise without his teaching. Thank you, Dr. Zheng.
Dr. Zheng is a very nice and friendly professor. He always makes sure everyone understands the material. Besides that, he's available all the time when you have questions. He will help you even if it is something that does not relate to the class. Dr. Zheng's teaching skill is excellent. Not only can he explain everything very well, but also he provides very helpful notes and homework to make sure everyone is on the right track. Outside of the class, Dr. Zheng is very approachable. He always chats with students pretty much on every topic. Overall, I believe Dr. Zheng is great.
