Changes to Schedule of Classes/Registration
Due to the closing of University offices for inclement weather this semester, the Schedule of Classes for Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 will be available beginning Friday, March 6. Registration for Summer 2015 and Fall 2015 will begin March 31, based on classification and an alphabetic rotation.
Nominate Staff for Outstanding Performance Awards
Please submit nominations for the 2015 Outstanding Performance Awards. This is an opportunity to recognize the dedicated staff members who often get overlooked in the day-to-day operation of your offices. The Supervisor of the Year Award will recognize staff and faculty supervisors who provide leadership in creating work environments that facilitate work/life balance, professional development and performance management. Nominations for Woodcock Medal open
Nominations for the Woodcock Medal are open. The award is considered the most prestigious recognition of accomplishment by an undergraduate student in the College of Arts & Sciences. Students who graduated in December 2014 or will graduate in May 2015 are eligible. Please note that students will be considered only if we receive letters of nomination/support from members of the faculty. The deadline for nominations is March 24. SIGS Awards Nominations open
The School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies (SIGS) will present three awards honoring outstanding faculty work with graduate students: Outstanding Mentor of a Doctoral Student, Outstanding Mentor of a Masters Student, and Provost’s Award for an Exemplary Director of Graduate Studies (DGS). World Scholars study abroad competition open
The spring competition of the World Scholars program, supported by the College of Arts and Sciences and granting scholarships of up to $8000 to subsidize undergraduate study abroad in AY 2015-16, is open to nominations from faculty. Prof. Shafto to present at University College London
Prof. Patrick Shafto (Psychological and Brain Sciences) will present at University College London for a conference entitled "Implications of research on the neuroscience of affect, attachment, and social cognition” March 25 – 26. His talk is entitled “Computational modeling of social learning: The development of epistemic trust.”
Prof. McCormack selected to attend Wabash Workshop
Prof. Michael Brandon McCormack (Pan-African Studies) was selected to attend the Wabash Center's 2015-16 Teaching and Learning Workshop for Pre-Tenure Religion Faculty of African Descent. The workshop will gather 14 faculty members in their first years of teaching. The purpose is to create a collegial community who can interrogate issues teacher-scholars of African descent face in the classroom, guilds, and wider publics.
Prof. Clayton presented at Black Family Conference
Prof. Dewey Clayton (Political Science) presented at the 42nd Black Family Conference in Louisville on February 27. The topic of his talk was “Dismantling the Voting Rights Act of 1965.”

Prof. Ashlock receives inaugural Faculty Mentor of the Year Award
Prof. Mary Ashlock received the first-ever Faculty Mentor of the Year Award as part of the annual Red & Black Banquet. The banquet began as a way to celebrate faculty mentors whose teaching and advising have had an impact on the best and brightest of our student-athletes.
Prof. Wise presented with 2015 National Girls and Women in Sports Award
UofL Athletic Director Tom Jurich presented Prof. Elaine Wise (Chair, Humanities) with the 2015 National Girls and Women in Sports Award during halftime at the Women’s Basketball game February 8. UofL’s women athletes joined Wise on the floor for the presentation and a video of her work with student-athletes.

Engaged Scholarship in Action Series
The latest installment in the Engaged Scholarship in Action series will be held Friday, March 6. The event, “From Parkland to Ferguson: The Persistence of Racial Disparities,” takes place from 12:30 - 2:00pm in Room 124 of the Clinical and Translational Research Building on HSC. Panelists include Vicki Hines-Martin (Nursing), David Owen (Philosophy), Cedric Powell (Law), and Monnica Williams (Psychology).
