State of the College Address this Friday

The A&S State of the College Address is Friday, 9/28 at 3pm in Humanities 100. All A&S faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Supervisors, if possible, please try to make arrangements so that any staff who wish to attend can do so. If you are unable to make it, but would like to watch a live stream, you will need to join the private A&S Faculty & Staff Facebook group.

It is time to start getting the word out about the 2018 Winter Session. Printed and digital materials to promote the Winter Session. If you would like posters or bookmarks, email Laura Dorman. To access digital resource, e.g. header images for websites, banners, buttons, TV displays, screen savers, etc.) at louisville.edu/online/resources/wintersession. If you would like to add an image to your email signature, please email Lindsey Ronay and she will email you the instructions and image.

Prof. Kelly elected to ASTR executive committee

Prof. Baron Kelly (Theatre Arts) has recently been elected to serve on the executive committee of the American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR), a premiere organization that fosters scholarship on worldwide theatre and performance, both historical and contemporary. In addition, he begins his second year on the Fulbright Review Panel.

Training for "Raise Some L" Crowdfunding Campaign

Want to know more about how to crowdfund for your department or program during the "Raise Some L" days of giving in October? Attend a short training session on 9/26!  You’ll leave this event ready to effectively raise funds during Raise Some L. Training includes: ambassador sign up, training on how to use the ambassador dashboard, and social media tips and best practices. Light snacks will be served. RSVP online.

Prof. Cruz interviewed for "Lingthusiasm"

Prof. Hilaria Cruz (Comparative Humanities) was interviewed for a podcast call "Lingthusiasm" which aims to communicate linguistics to a wider audience. Prof. Cruz shares about her work creating children’s book in indigenous languagesand her work developing automatic speech recognition for endangered languages.

Faculty and Staff Engage with Forward Radio

"Solutions to Violence" is the latest radio program on Forward Radio, WFMP 106.5 FM, to feature colleagues from the College and the University. This new series, which focuses on solving conflict without violence as well as civil right, fairness, and justice, launches with Prof. Russell Vandenbroucke, Director of the Peace, Justice & Conflict Transformation program. Future guests will include Prof. Cate Fosl (Women's & Gender Studies), and Prof. Emeritus Ben Harrison (History).  Vandenbroucke's interview can be heard Monday, Aug. 27 at 8 pm, Tuesday at 8 and Wednesday at 6 am. 

Alumna Allen to be recognized by Presentation Academy

Alumna Elmer Lucille Allen (Master's in Fine Arts, 2002) will be recognized at the 23rd Annual Celebration of The Tower Awards for Women Leaders on October 18, 2018. More information: www.presentationacademy.org.
