Transfer Student
Transfer Applicants with less than 24 transferable hours of credit:
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission.
- Pay your application fee of $30 (non-refundable). View the application fee waiver requirements.
- Submit your Test Scores or personal statement. As of 2020, UofL accepts applications submitted with or without test scores. You are able to submit either test scores or a personal statement for admission. If you choose to submit test scores, either ACT (American College Test) scores or SAT (Educational Testing Service) scores may be submitted. Test results may be submitted from the testing agency or may appear on the official high school or college transcript. If you choose to submit a personal statement, please do so through your New Cards Gateway. Please contact your admissions counselor for additional information or with any questions.
- Submit your official high school transcript(s) including date of graduation. Submit your official college transcript(s)*.
*An official transcript must also be submitted from EACH college or university attended even if credit was not earned. It is the responsibility of the student to contact each individual college or university attended concerning transcript request and fees. Submitting "in-progress" transcripts can expedite the application process, an admission decision can be made when all required materials are received. All University of Louisville transcripts will automatically be submitted with this application.
Transfer Applicants with 24 or more transferable hours of credit:
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission.
- Pay your Application Fee of $30 (non-refundable).
- Submit your official college transcript(s). An official transcript must be submitted from EACH college or university attended even if credit was not earned. It is the responsibility of the student to contact each individual college or university attended concerning transcript request and fees. Submitting "in-progress" transcripts can expedite the application process, an admission decision can be made when all required materials are received. All University of Louisville transcripts will automatically be submitted with this application.
Adult Student (20 or Older)
- If you are an adult student who has never attended college or has fewer than 24 transferable credits, see instructions in the above section. You may also view admission requirements for each academic unit.
- If you are an adult student with 24 or more transferable credits, see instructions in the above section. You may also view requirements for each academic unit.
- If you are not currently enrolled in a degree program at University of Louisville and you want to take one or two courses for credit as a non-degree student, Continuing Studies may be the best option for you.
- If you are at least 25 years old, have been out of school two or more years, have completed 80 or more college credits but you have not earned a degree, you may qualify for Project Graduate.
* Students in the following categories should complete the Non-degree Student Application: post-baccalaureate, visitor from another college or university, high school visitor (including all dual credit students), continuing studies and certificate students.
Returning UofL Student
If you have not attended any other college since leaving UofL, have been out less than two years, and wish to return to the same academic unit, you may be eligible to complete a Request to Re-enroll form. Please check with your advising center. Students who were visitors, students who were academically suspended, or students who attended another university or college since leaving UofL must reapply.
- Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission
- Pay your non-refundable application fee of $30 (only if you attended another institution since your last enrollment at UofL).
- Submit your official transcript(s): official transcripts from EACH college or university that has been attended since enrollment at UofL.
If you are applying for readmission because you were academically suspended from UofL or another university or college, a petition form is also required. Deadlines vary from unit to unit.
