International Center

Consortia Programs

The University of Louisville works with three international consortia partners to provide U of L students with well-managed, cost-affordable Study Abroad programs in over 30 sites around the world. These consortia are the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA), the Kentucky Institute for International Study (KIIS) and International Studies Abroad (ISA).

CCSA and KIIS also offer international internship programs and ISA also offers international experiential learning opportunities.

Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA)

CCSA is a higher education consortium of 22 colleges and universities with member schools from Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. CCSA is headquartered at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Dr. Michael Klembara, Executive Director, along with the assistance of his staff and guided by the policies determined by the board of trustees, annually develops, plans and coordinates Study Abroad programs in countries, such as: Australia, Barbados, Belize, England, Ghana, Ireland, Jamaica, Scotland, and South Africa.

Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS)

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies is a consortium formed by Murray State University, Eastern Kentucky University, Western Kentucky University, Morehead State University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, Berea College, Union College, Transylvania University, Bellarmine University, University of Louisville, Georgetown College, Antioch College, Ball State University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Midway College which organizes and coordinates a group of summer and semester study-abroad programs for college students. KIIS focuses on countries in which English is not the primary language. It has programs in countries, such as: Austria, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Turkey.

International Studies Abroad (ISA)

ISA was established in 1987 to facilitate Study Abroad programs for American college students. ISA prides itself on taking each student's requests and needs seriously, and often designs individual programs to meet his/her requirements. ISA believes that by studying abroad students not only see, but experience other cultures and customs. ISA has programs in countries, such as: Argentina, Australia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, England, France, Italy, Mexico, Peru, and Spain.
