Program Details - The Hague, Netherlands
The Haagse Hogeschool
Applications are invited from University of Louisville students with an interest in doing a study abroad in the political, business, and diplomatic center of Europe. The semester program at the Haagse Hogeschool (The Hague University of Professional Education) offers students in the College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) the opportunity to study alongside students from around the world.
Taking courses in the International Business and Management Studies Program exposes students to innovative, cross-cultural problem solving in a real-life context. Courses include studies in economics, finance, law, languages, marketing, and management. All courses are taught in English. However, students are strongly encouraged to take the 6-week course in Dutch Culture and Dutch language so as to better understand the host country.
Applicants may come from any major at the CBPA. Exchange participants are expected to return to the University of Louisville to resume their studies after the exchange program. Participants may choose either the fall or spring semesters for study. The fourteen-week semesters at The Hague run from early September through January (exam period comes at the end of January) and from late January through the first week of July. Specific dates of arrival and departure are confirmed during consultation with the Study Abroad advisor.
Applicants must have completed thirty semester hours of college courses with a grade point average of 3.0 or better at the time of the award. The specific courses to be taken abroad are identified during consultation with the Study Abroad advisor and the Academic Advisors at the CBPA. Information regarding the International Business and Management Studies Program at The Hague can be found here.
This is a one-to-one exchange. U of L participants in The Hague Exchange pay their tuition to U of L. This is done by check payable to the “University of Louisville” and delivered to the International Center at U of L. These funds are held in a special account for the incoming student from The Hague. Tuition costs abroad are waived. The students must budget for their living expenses abroad and other fees as appropriate for the exchange. The approximate budget is about $6,000, outside of U of L full-time (12 credit hours) tuition costs. Scholarships, grants, and financial aid may be applied.
To apply for the Spring semester exchange, applications must be submitted by October 1. For students interested in a Fall semester exchange, applications are due by April 1.
The application includes:

The period of study at The Hague should contribute to the field of study or career that the applicant intends to pursue upon his or her return.
