Exchange Programs - Mainz, Germany
Program Information
The Mainz, Germany Year-long exchange is made available through the Sister Cities partnership between the cities of Louisville, Kentucky and Mainz, Germany. Applications are invited from U of L students with an interest in German culture and language. The program is hosted at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Applications may come from any academic discipline. Scholarship recipients are expected to return to the University of Louisville to resume their studies. The scholarship recipient will spend two semesters studying in Mainz. All classes are conducted in German.

Scholarship
The scholarship award is paid as a monthly stipend, part of which is used to pay the student’s room, board, university fees, and some personal expenses while in Mainz. Scholarship Award includes:
- Waiver of tuition at Johannes Gutenberg University
- A stipend of 409 Euros per month for 10 consecutive months - 10 months x 409 Euros = 4090 Euros or $5,254.00 U.S. Dollars (as of 8/23/06)
Students may also be eligible for a Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) Scholarship.
