Working With Difficult People: How to Deal with Nearly Anyone and Maintain Your Sanity
Most of us reach out to create relationships, or to interact without fully understanding how dramatic differences that underlie value systems can cause confusion, frustration and stress. People simply don’t always behave in ways we could predict or desire and we often regret way we respond to their “difficult” behavior.
During this restructured workshop you will be introduced to nine character types, values systems, preferred work environments, conflict styles and ways of developing and maintaining relationships. Through group exercises, didactic lectures, role-playing and self-reflection exercises, you will discover yours (and others’) underlying belief systems, convictions, gifts, resistances, self-perceptions, and stressors. You will learn what motivates you and others and what stressors make each of us “difficult” for others.
Agenda:
- Nine Types of Very Difficult People
- Protecting Yourself when Working with Difficult People
- Using the Enneagram to identify and Understand Difficult People
- Are You a Difficult Person?
- Three Different Ways of Managing Conflict and Coming to Agreement
