Having a high IQ and good standardized test scores doesn't guarantee that you will make good decisions, says the winner of the 2010 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Education. Keith Stanovich, a professor of human development and applied psychology at the University of Toronto, won the prize for his 2009 book, What Intelligence Tests Miss: The Psychology of Rational Thought.

The CEHD will host a reception for Dr. Stanovich on Monday, April 12, 4 - 6 p.m. at the University Club. Dr. Stanovich will speak about his research and a Q&A session will follow.
On Saturday, May 8, 2010, CEHD Convocation - 3:30 p.m. the College Convocation will immediately follow the university-wide commencement in the East Hall A of the Kentucky Exposition Center. All graduates will be individually recognized at this ceremony, which takes approximately one and a half hours. If students choose not to participate in the university-wide ceremony, they may still participate in the unit convocation.» Read more…

Dr. Mary Hums, professor with the Department of Health and Sport Sciences, will head to Vancouver in mid-March to work at the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games.
