Responsibility Timeline

The Peer Advising program is a year-round position (summer, fall, and spring semesters).  Hours vary based on time of year, but at minimum, the position requires 3 hours per week.

January - February

  • New Staff Applications available – January 7, 2019 through February 8, 2019 at 5pm
  • Interviews for 2019-2020 staff – February 18-22
  • Current Peer Advisors teach Spring Gen 101, assist with recruitment, and continue mentoring their students.

March

  • 2019-2020 Peer Advisor staff selected
  • Current staff assist with advising and mentoring initiatives.

April

  • Current staff assist with advising and mentoring initiatives.
  • Welcome Event for new and returning staff – TBD

May

  • TRAINING DATES: May 13-17.  Peer Advisors must be available for ALL of training.

June - July

  • Advising during Summer Orientation

Freshman Orientation Dates Summer 2019

 

August - October

  • Fall Training – August 6-9
  • Welcome Week Events- August 16
  • Serve as teaching assistant in multiple Gen 101 sections- August 19 through mid-October
  • Maintain office hour(s) weekly for each section
  • Attend staff meetings as announced
  • Develop relationships to guide and mentor new students

 

November-December

  • Assist with advising and mentoring initiatives.
