From Stagnation to Success: A Proven System for Manufacturing Growth

February 28, 2025

William S. Burroughs, a prominent American postmodern author has been attributed to saying, “When you stop growing you start dying”. Every business owner who starts a business has grandiose ideas and theories on how their future business will translate to meaningful impacts for them, their family, employees, and community. When a business does not meet your expectations, its frustrating and demoralizing. It’s easy to get frustrated but what is not easy is to find out why expectations are not being met. What steps are you doing to find out why success has not found you or your latest endeavor was less than spectacular?

Growing a business is not much different than starting a business and some would say it’s harder. When a business starts off, energy and passion is in abundance. The idea of failure really is not in the discussion. Success is found by “steel will”, determination, and perseverance. After success is found, it takes the same methodology to grow a business but the issue being, companies or those in charge of growing a business tend to become more reserved. They become “safe”. Safety and growth do not always go hand in hand but that is not to say one cannot do “safe growth”. Safe growth is growth through leveraging lessons learned from the past. The problem with this type of growth is most will not look outside of themselves or their small circle of friends and/or mentors find lessons to apply. How are you learning from others to grow your business?

The Manufacturing Growth Series guides business leaders through a step-by-step process that will take them from their vision through product or service launch.  The series is performed in a Cohort scenario so the participating leader’s network with each other while learning the growth system.  In the end, they build their repeatable system enabling future growth, while building relationships with prospective customers and suppliers at the same time. They are growing their inner circle of friends and mentors.

The progressive series of three workshops plus one-on-one coaching will be led by KY-MEP specialists.  These specialists will help you brainstorm and filter ideas, vet and prioritize a plan, assist in creating the product or service, and see the idea through to launch. In between the workshops, the one-on-one coaching will be executed to customize the concepts learned while addressing the client’s needs.

This program works for start up companies, companies needing to get to “growth mode”, as well as individuals within companies needing a refresher on the sequential steps from coming up with an idea, vetting that idea, and commercializing that idea. In the end, this program puts a stage gate process of learning WHY an idea has merit, WHY a company should pursue and spend resources, and HOW to commercialize, resulting in success.

The Series is in three (3) half day workshops, followed by individualized one-on-one onsite mentoring sessions between workshops. It offers step-by-step guidance for repeatable growth. Participants will have immediate ROI impacts, development of a pathway to growth, have an opportunity to network with customers and vendors, and fosters communication across the company.
